Job Summary

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead, implement, and oversee effective HSE management systems, ensure legal HSE compliance and provide direction to any HSE associates for Cluster India and Bangladesh.
  • As the Region HSE Lead, to facilitate implementation of the Global HSE Strategy by providing technical expertise and guidance to regional and site management in all Novartis organizations in Asia. Manage HSE support, programs and initiatives in Asia and provides global direction on various HSE topics and programs (e.g. Technical Safety, Biosafety, Process Safety Management etc.)
  • Primary point of contact on HSE performance and issues for the Cluster. Ensure local HSE regulatory compliance requirements (including any required internal/external reporting) are met.
  • Advises the Regional HSE Head on local context and potential HSE challenges and opportunities. Review and agree HSE annual work plan according to Novartis requirements.
  • Propose and align activities to engage field force and office based employees on HSE and Energized for Life. Support global or regional HSE visit and audits.
  • Drives synergies across the Cluster to improve organizational effectiveness and shared common resources (internal & external).
  • Identify needs, gaps and opportunities in HSE performance and guides solutions in Asia as well as in specific global HSE topics and programs (e.g. Technical Safety, Biosafety, Process Safety Management etc.)
  • Drive sites to plan activities and actions with appropriate roles and responsibilities according to annual Global HSE plan in consideration of site complexity, size, risk, population, regulatory environment and other factors. Lead HSE related initiatives and projects in the region in alignment with global, regional and country specific business objectives

Minimum requirements

  • What you ll bring to the role:

  • College/university degree in safety management, industrial hygiene, environmental science, occupational health and/or medicine, engineering, or related field.
  • Excellent communication skills and working knowledge of the predominant languages in which business is conducted at the Cluster/Country.
  • A minimum of 15+ years of professional experience related to HSE, ideally at multi-national organizations. A minimum of 7 years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • In-depth experience in pharmaceutical, chemical, biomedical research, and/or healthcare industry & following areas.
    HSE aspects of the international management system standards for HSE (e.g., ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 31000, ISO 22301, ISO 50001).
  • Site-based HSE operations, Region and country-specific HSE compliance requirements, Safety design and standards, Occupational Health, Environmental Impact. .
  • Experience in leading high impact processes and implementation of improvements across global/regional matrix organizations with cross-functional exposure.


Desirable:

  • Relevant country-specific HSE certification is desired.
  • Additional language common to the cluster is desirable.
