Front End Designer/Developer

Our growing UX and web team is looking for a front-end web developer/designer to help us build top-tier, industry leading websites for our marketing team.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team developing a suite of web sites in Drupal 8 doing primarily front-end development including building content types, custom blocks, twig templates, styling with css using Sass and light jQuery scripting.

This job bridges design and development, but your focus will primarily be HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and content management system (CMS) installation, configuration, and customization.

You will create templates and prototypes at the beginning of development while working with content experts, designers, and developers to complete the implementation and launch.

Youll enjoy a team-oriented, casual atmosphere conducive to maximizing your potential but must be comfortable discussing and contributing ideas at any stage of the process.

Front-End executions and approaches that bring to life UX strategy, creative design or ad hoc improvements

  • Leading the implementation of web front-ends
  • Communicating ideas clearly to your team

  • Working in an agile environment, where we iterate quickly
  • The successful candidate should be motivated to combine the art of design with the art of programming and will need to be able to translate flat design files to clean, accessible user experiences with better Web Performance
  • Care about modern best practices, including code reviews, continuous integration and deployment, and iterative development
  • Enjoy working with others in our collaborative environment that balances team-wide communication (e.g., daily standups, Slack discussions, code review), occasional pair programming sessions, and frequent blocks of focused, uninterrupted time for independent work

What You Need For This Position:

  • 5-8+ years experience developing for the web in-house or agency
  • Comfortable working in Night Shifts
  • Object-oriented jQuery and Vanilla Javascript
  • Excellent standards-based web technology skills (including HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript)
  • Solid understanding of designing intuitive site functionality, interaction, site architecture, user interfaces, and navigation
  • Experience with SASS, SCSS or LESS
  • Good knowledge of modern web standards and web performance
  • Experience with preprocessors like Gulp, Grunt, and Webpack
  • CMS experience preferably Drupal
  • Strong experience with responsive design, including responsive grids and images
  • Familiarity with responsive frameworks like Bootstrap
  • Experience with Version Control and Git
  • Strong experience using tools such as Illustrator, Photoshop, Sketch, Adobe XD etc.
  • Experience working effectively with a team of developers and designers
  • Experience working with JIRA, Clarizen
  • Demonstrated ability to implement one-off projects quickly while keeping long-term projects on schedule
  • Rapid development/prototyping of front-end XHTML/CSS/JS
  • Proficiency solving cross-browser issues
  • Find joy in building smart interfaces from comps and wireframes
  • Experience working effectively with a team of developers and designers
  • Solid understanding of designing intuitive site functionality, interaction, site architecture, user interfaces, and navigation.

Other Desirable Experience:

  • Excellent design chops, and the ability to create beautiful, usable interfaces
  • JSON and XML parsing
  • Experience with one high-level server-side language/framework (PHP, Ruby (Rails), Python (Django)
