Job Summary Job Description: We are seeking a Senior Engineer for HVAC and Battery Cooling Systems (BCS) to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing, engineering, and developing HVAC and cooling systems for electric vehicles (EVs), particularly EV buses and trucks. You will be responsible for creating concept designs, managing engineering activities, coordinating with internal and external teams, and providing post-launch engineering support. Key Responsibilities: 1. Engineering Concept Design: Report to the Delivery Manager and contribute to creating concept designs for HVAC systems and their components. Finalize technical specifications and macro feasibility during the styling stage. 2. CAD Modeling & 3D Annotations: Develop CAD models and 3D annotations for HVAC components and assemblies, ensuring timely delivery of milestones as per project timelines and schedules set by the Project Lead. 3. Detail Engineering & Release: Oversee and manage detailed engineering tasks, release activities, tooling feasibility assessments, and tooling evaluations, ensuring proper coordination and adherence to engineering processes. 4. Validation & Testing: Define validation plans for HVAC system components and assemblies at the vehicle level, ensuring they meet functionality, performance, and quality standards according to client requirements. 5. Cross-functional Coordination: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including component suppliers and engineering service providers, to support the design, development, and launch of vehicle systems. 6. Post-Launch Support: Provide engineering support after product launch to resolve manufacturing, weight, quality, and cost reduction issues. 7. Client Initiatives Participation: Participate in client initiatives such as VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering), weight reduction, and quality improvements, ensuring targets for cost, quality, and weight are met. Domain Skills & Technical Competency: Experience with EV Systems: At least one full design, engineering, and development cycle of Battery Cooling Systems (BCS) or HVAC systems for Electric Vehicles (EV) buses or trucks. HVAC & Cooling System Expertise: Knowledge of HVAC component design and integration, including plastic components for automotive applications (both blow and injection molding). Tooling & Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of tooling, molding processes, and manufacturing processes for plastic components. CATIA Expertise: Proficiency in CATIA for solid and surface modeling, assembly modeling, and 3D annotations. Engineering Processes: Working knowledge of engineering processes such as DFMEA (Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), DVP (Design Verification Plan), DFM (Design for Manufacturing), DFA (Design for Assembly), DFS (Design for Service), and product development processes. PLM & BOM Knowledge: Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) and knowledge of Vehicle BOM (Bill of Materials) and Engineering BOM. Electronics & Functional Safety: Working knowledge of electronics and functional safety standards (ISO 26262) as applied to EV cooling systems (BCS). Advanced Tools & Techniques: Knowledge of CFD tools, MATLAB/Simulink, and AI/ML is desirable. Alternate Fuel Vehicles: Working knowledge of alternate fuel vehicles is an advantage. Qualifications & Skills: Educational Requirements: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. Experience: 6-12 years of experience in HVAC or cooling systems design for automotive applications, especially for electric vehicles. Software Expertise: Proficiency in CATIA, CFD tools, MATLAB/Simulink, and PLM systems. Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and the capability to manage complex engineering challenges. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to coordinate across multiple teams and stakeholders, both internal and external. Benefits: Competitive salary with performance-based incentives.
