Job Description

The Senior Project Manager -1 is to be an experienced project manager (a.k.a. project management expert), who can be an effective influencer across the organization, and be actively sought out for advice and mentorship, and is an exceptional communicator who can create harmony and clarity across teams and the organization; with an ability to set goals/targets and roadmap for their teams, in alignment to defined business aims and outcomes; and always looking for opportunities continual improvement in processes and metrics.


The Senior Project Manager -1 oversees the full project management life cycle and application development life cycle for the implementation of one or more highly complex, large-scale portfolio/program/projects, and/or strategic IT and business initiative(s). The person in this role is to be highly organized, detail-oriented; with excellent people management, and stakeholder management, expertise. He/she should engage with customers, and prospects, for understanding requirements, help with estimations, and be providing inputs, for project proposals. Collaborates cross-functional teams for guiding efforts towards achieving organizational business results; and be responsible for delivering defined projects/program outputs on time, within budget, and at required quality; with customer centricity.


The Senior Project Manager-1 should have advanced knowledge of project management techniques and tools, across all phases of project management, with significant expertise in people/performance management, change management, and stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities includes:

  • Collaborates with stakeholders to document project scope, deliverables, goals, risks, blockers, success measures, and estimated resources required
  • Determines project goals and priorities, and negotiates the assignment of activities with team members and their reporting managers, in a matrix organization
  • Establishes key project criteria metrics, provides performance inputs, for the team members, to functional/administrative managers; and supports for identifying professional development for each team member and coach them to clarify assignments and deliverables; & mentor others in project management practices.
  • Co-creates a project initiation plan with the team, including the definition of completion and success criteria; and organize the work into manageable activity clusters (phases); compiles the estimates for a project;
  • Manages, and communicates, the project s objectives, scope, efforts, milestones, and creates a project environment that enables peak performance by the team members
  • Manages monitoring and reporting on project progress to meet plan, quality, cost, schedule and resource optimization requisites. Tracks project milestones for forecasting and alerting for invoicing.
  • Manages risks (Identifies risks and creates risk mitigation plans); & ensure reporting, analyses, and pro-active identification of any variance; determines when to escalate issues to appropriate management levels and mitigate risks, as needed.
  • Coordinates with other project management practitioners, and collaborate with Solutions/Technical Architects and Product Engineering. Manages relationships with project stakeholders, and keeps them informed of progress, and issues; & manages delivery of project requisites and expectations
  • Oversees project documentation and updates to relevant knowledge bases; analyses lessons learned and best practices; and shares with other project management practitioners and management
  • Collaborates with PMO to ensure implementation of project management guidelines; in alignment to Agile/SDLC practices and the build and release management requisites
  • Proactively identifies changes in work scope and ensures appropriate planning measures are taken to reassess and amend the scope of work requirement, budget, and timeline, if/as needed
  • Resolves issues related to client relations, project quality, project risk and project management
  • Provides status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership. & Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test and deployment management activities
  • Works creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence and participates in establishing best practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
  • Prepares estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of the project and manages project scope and changes. Manages ongoing quality control and participates in quality issue resolutions
  • Evaluates the projects on completion, analyzes the challenges (and undertakes root cause analysis, if/as needed) that occurred during the execution of the project and conducts project closure activities to formalize and communicate the project acceptance, along with handover documentation and supports incidence management and other ongoing activities, as applicable
  • Leverages problem solving skills and periodically assess improvement opportunities in the workflows, and drives the teams for process innovations and for accelerating continual improvements across functions.


Requirements

  • B. Tech/B. E. in Computer Science or Electronics, or equivalent in similar related field, from an institute of repute; with preference for post-graduation in relevant area. Combination of education and experience, may be considered in lieu.
  • Certification in Agile Scrum, Agile Safe, PMP, ITIL, and/or Lean-IT, is preferred
  • Typical relevant experience of 10 plus years, with approx. 6 plus year experience in leading development projects, and guiding operations tracks
  • Demonstrable ability to confidently drive the customer discussions at leadership level; with strong experience in issue resolutions and in handling critical situations
  • Demonstrable thought leadership to come up with new changes ideas and to drive new initiatives
  • Good project management skills including time and risk management, resource balancing and prioritization, and project structuring. & Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrable results orientation with focus on product quality, time to market and hand-on experience to track and manage end to end Projects/Products/Services delivery needs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence skills and verbally and cognitively agile enough to hold your own in strategy discussions with the leadership and executive teams
  • Understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, DevOps, Continuous Integration, Software Configuration Management; Ability to understand technical architectures and validate estimations
  • Experienced in actively coaching and mentoring team members for talent development and cross-skills learnings, in a flat matrixed organization
  • Understand interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs. &
  • Flexible both in mindset and readiness to work a variety of working hour; and be able to work under pressure and time-pressing deadlines
  • Knowledge of fintech and the products like UPI, BBPS, IMPS, etc. is strongly preferred
