Project Engineer - Automation Job in Abb

This is a Project Engineer role, reporting to the Engineering Manager in Business Area India Operations Centre, Industrial Automation (INOPC IA) located in Bangalore. You will be working under the guidance of Engineering Manager in automation area of design, HMI and application development, conducting FAT and SAT, commissioning, troubleshooting of process control systems.

Your responsibilities

• Evaluating, selecting and applying standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments.
• Providing technical support for testing, installation and commissioning activities.
• Preparing project documentation within one s scope of deliverables.
• Assisting in preparing proposal or presentation of engineering projects or programs provision of bills of materials, estimated engineering hours.
• Supporting contract Managers in issuing claims. Providing quality solutions as per customer requirements and delivers within budget and contract. Ensuring adherence to safety standards and mitigation of potential risks.
• Creating work plans and cost estimates in own area of responsibility and ensures quality deliverables on time and within targeted cost. Improving effectiveness of work plan in collaboration with other functions.
• Completing risk and opportunity assessments and ensures implementation of resulting actions in one s area of responsibility. Reporting any contract or quality or program or cost issues to management along with recommendations for resolution.
• Assisting customers on technical issues, interacts with official contacts, contractors and other staff within his/her scope of deliverables.
• Assisting communication pertaining to specific assignments or meetings.
• Collaborating with the Supply Chain function to ensure that technical requirements for equipment or services are communicated and agreed on with potential suppliers.

Your background

• B.E/ B. Tech from a reputed university.
• Required minimum 3-10 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of S+ Operations will be added advantage.
• Knowledge of Legacy systems (PPB, CnT) and upgrading to S+ Operations.
• Experience in HMI/Application Development.
• Knowledge of structural and functional architecture of control systems.
• Working knowledge on interfaces (Profibus, Modbus, OPC, IEC61850, etc.).
• Ability to develop equipment specifications for medium-sized projects involving HMI s, DCS s, manufacturing execution systems (MES) etc.
