We are inspired by and associated with World Resources Institute (WRI), a global research organization. Currently over 150 researchers are working with WRI India in our offices at Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Program Overview for Energy
The objective of the WRI India energy program is to inform and guide India s transition to cleaner energy. The program focuses on three inter-related aspects of this energy transition: enhancing energy access, scaling renewables among specific consumer categories, and achieving higher levels of energy and buildings efficiency. Our energy access work is specifically aimed at ensuring access to affordable and clean energy so as to improve socio-economic development in rural and remote regions of India. Through strong research, ground-level implementation experience, partnerships with key stakeholders and communicating our work, we seek to achieve impact at scale.
About your role:
World Resources Institute seeks a Communications Associate for the India Energy Program. The role entails working closely with our team of experts and the Energy Program s Communications Team to support in developing and executing impactful communication and engagement activities that extend our influence, media coverage and online presence.
The associate will be responsible for drafting and editing blog posts, social media posts, op-eds, and newsletters, create interactive tools and infographics, maintain media relationships, oversee publication production processes, provide support to audio-visual outreach activities, and assist in managing events and webinars and provide support towards website maintenance. We would like a communications generalist with an interest in energy, climate, and sustainability related issues. The Associate will support work across a wide range of topics and with a diverse team.
How your day will unfold:
Job Responsibilities:
Media Outreach and Coordination -
- Work with communications and research experts to oversee efficient execution of existing communications processes regarding publications and communications activities
- Ensure all WRI India content disbursed to the media is precise, factual, and legally sound. Also, ensure WRI India s branding and style guides are adhered to in all outreach materials.
- Mapping media to specific work and pitching relevant stories in collaboration with the Media lead.
- Documentation and knowledge management of the program s outreach activities, engagements, stakeholders lists and knowledge products.
- Identifying key messages for social media campaigns and pitching stories for dissemination.
- On-ground support for all events and workshops and coordinating with local vendors and WRI s logistical support
- Coordinate with research staff across WRI India's programs and offices to support projects as well as identify opportunities for more impactful collaboration across teams
- Travel to key project sites based on project or program needs
- Writing scope of works, monitoring contracts and supervise Audio-Visual outreach activities.
Website, social media, and other Digital Platforms -
- Basic ability to create/supervise simple social media infographics/visuals and disseminate research data in a visually appealing format. Visual communication expertise and knowledge of photo editing software are a plus but not necessary.
- Perform quality control checks on all new and revised content for websites and social media.
- Work closely with WRI India communications team to ensure that energy program s news coverage is promptly and systematically shared on the organization s social media platforms, websites and in any newsletters, recap mailers or for external media outreach.
- Basic ability to create/supervise simple social media infographics/visuals and disseminate research data in a visually appealing format. Visual communication expertise and knowledge of photo editing software are a plus but not necessary.
- Facilitating webinars that involve digital planning and social media coverage in collaboration with the social media team.
- Contribute to web projects and manage backend updates.
- Regularly track and evaluate metrics of success and adapt strategies to grow and improve outreach results over time.
- Basic understanding of filmmaking, photography, and design processes. Must have the ability to write scripts/narratives derived from research work.
- Create short visual narratives for social media.
- Experience or interest in writing audio narratives for podcasts.
Editorial -
- Provide writing, editing and proof-reading support.
- Help team members write blogs and proof/edit to meet WRI India s standards.
- Write press releases, newsletters, and social media content along with ideating, facilitating, and editing op-eds for external publication. Check for length, language, flow, spelling, and grammar.
- Keep track of latest developments, news, and updates globally and in India on energy sector and sharing with the team regularly.
- Streamlining audio-visual transcripts.
Qualification and Requirements we seek:
Bachelor's/Master s degree in relevant field of communications/journalism/design
Minimum of 2 to 4 years of full-time professional experience working in public relations, journalism, or communications with salient link to climate, energy, or broader environmental and sustainability issues.
Experience with communications planning, publications development, marketing, and other specialized communications skills.
Excellent writing and editing skills in English.
A thorough understanding of the digital landscape.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to build and maintain productive relationships internally and externally.
Experience in developing videos and photography and liaising with AV vendors.
Capability to communicate complex ideas in well-organized, everyday language.
Ability to self-manage and meet deadlines, manage multiple projects at the same time.
Must have enthusiasm, flexibility, technical curiosity, and willingness to learn.
Understanding of how websites are built and basic troubleshooting.
Basic familiarity with design and Audio- visual software, especially Canva, or Adobe suite will be an added benefit.
Must have an interest in, or experience in podcasts.
Adaptable to rapidly changing priorities and able to manage multiple deadlines and deliver high quality work products.
Salary & Benefits:8,00,000 to 9,00,000 CTC Per Annum
Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.

Duration: 1 yearas term hire (extendable based on performance and project requirements)
