Position: Asst. Manager Process Engineering/New Product Development

Qualification: BE/Diploma Mechanical Engineering

Experience8~10 years

Reporting GM Engineering

Team 2~3 members

Skills:

Sound knowledge of Process design and development, APQP/PPAP process, machine selection, development and validation, with hands-on experience of machining, welding and assembly process. Customer interface for New Product development with good skill set of Project Management.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead New Product Development through CFT approach using APQP/PPAP process.
• Define comprehensive Project Plan, including a Master Programme Timing Plan, ensuring alignment with customer vehicle development and APQP requirements
• Coordinating with customer for new development activities like Specification review, sample development as per customer events, testing and validation of parts, process/line audits and Gate closure at each phase of APQP process.
• Develop and establish Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan, work instructions and SOP s for manufacturing.
• Conduct and establish process capability in line with customer requirements.
• Conduct Gate Review at every phase of APQP for smooth development.
• Lead a CFT for weekly projects review meeting, plan, co-ordinate and execute tasks/projects to completion with focus on Quality, Cost and Delivery.
• Specialization in conducting PFMEA, implementation of Pokayoke (error proofing) based on lesson learnt/past failure.
• Hands on experience to conduct individual process trials, overall process trials and High-Volume Production Trials to Validate and establish manufacturing process.
• Plan for effective utilisation of manufacturing facilities to maximise productivity, eliminate wastages and minimise manufacturing cost.
• Work on new technologies, advance cutting tools and optimised machining parameters to develop efficient methods of manufacturing to reduce cycle time, improve OEE and reduce operational cost.
• Standardisation of manufacturing processes, equipment design and development.
• Manage and establish departmental activities as per IATF guidelines.
• Documentation as per APQP and PPAP requirements.
• Using analytical skill and latest problem-solving techniques, support manufacturing/quality team for resolution of any plant engineering/quality issues.
• Liaison with JV collaborates for knowhow transfer, new technologies, process upgradation and quality improvement activities.
• Periodic review and update the progress of development activity with Senior Management team.

Desirable skills

• A good command on process design and development meeting all the design, process, quality and safety requirements.
• Must possess sound knowledge of New Product Development practices.
• Knowledge of Fanuc control CNC turning centres (Programming, machining parameters optimisation and troubleshooting), welding and assembly process.
• Knowledge of latest machine tools, cutting tools, materials, supplier base in India and abroad.
• Knowledge of process costing, cycle time study, time and motion study, man-machine balancing.
• Project management skills using CFT approach
• Candidate must have good leadership skills, analytical skills.
• Candidate must be able to demonstrate good presentation and communication skills.
• Knowledge of Auto cad, MS office is necessary.
• Sound knowledge of GD&T
• Knowledge of Value Stream Mapping to identify wastages in the system.
