Who are Simplyweight

Simplyweight is an innovative UK-based, medical wellness company seeking to transform lives of people who suffer from weight problems and related conditions like Diabetes. We are a small team dedicated to serving our community and care deeply about how our work will benefit humanity. We already work with the NHS and are looking to expand our reach globally.

With the Covid-19 pandemic affecting overweight/obese people the most, the need for effective weight loss solutions is crystal clear in order to prevent another public health crisis. This is the opportune time to join our company for any sincere individual who wants to make a meaningful difference in the world.

Our first project is a progressive web app (React JS), to be followed by other projects including mobile development, machine learning and other cutting edge artificial intelligence techniques. There is a lot of exciting variety in this role, from medical weight loss to general wellness and mental health.

We are looking for an initial contract of 6 months, with a probation period of 3 months in which we must finish our project. If all goes well we are looking to retain the developer on a permanent basis with good compensation.

The Role - Senior Front-End Developer specialising in ReactJS, Immediate start, comfortable with web/mobile web applications and PWA. Other additional skills will be a bonus and looked upon favourably. 6 month initial contract (3 month probation) with strong potential to become permanent for the right talent.

Qualifications: Undergraduate (Computer Science or related field), 3+ years experience in Front-end dev as a reactjs developer

Skills:

• Excellent front-end reactjs coding skills to creatively meet UI and performance challenges to deliver products at a high spec. Able to develop products for an exceptional UX and interactions. Looking for a unique developer who not only takes pride in their work but delivers a polished/sleek experience to delight and surprise users.
• Able to develop & implement intuitive front-end architecture to support user interface concepts along with relevant APIs.
• Driven to continuously improve performance and keep updating skills, not settling for mediocre.
• Clean, well-documented code is a must.
• Strong knowledge of all REACT tools: Reactjs, Webpack, Enzyme, Redux, Flux.
• Experienced in REST Api's, HTML, CSS, Git (Bitbucket), Javascript is a must.
• Some UI exposure and intuitive ability in design is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of performance testing frameworks including Mocha and Jest.
• Excellent at troubleshooting/debugging independently, experience with browser-based debugging and performance testing software
• Ability to handle and construct visualisation for large amounts of data.

Skills test and screening will be conducted by a senior developer, followed by an interview with the Directors.

Key criteria for being part of our team:

1. Excellent communication skills, flexible working with UK hours for calls. Dedicated workings hours will be agreed upon, during which dev must be responsive to team communication when required. We use google hangouts, Whatsapp, Slack etc.

2. Must be a team player when required, working alongside more senior devs. Must be able to safely (secure connections only, fast internet) work from home (for now) with commitment and without distraction(s).

3. Adaptable approach to work, managing changes (an inescapable part of innovation) and workload with a positive attitude. Able to work under time pressure in a healthy way.

4. Ability to problem solve (including troubleshooting/debugging) independently and creatively to meet challenges on your own.

5. Sincere and determined to meet agreed upon project deadlines. Excellent time-managing skills.

6. Passion for working in health and wellness, and in our company specifically. Personal experience with weight loss or people you know would bring greater understanding to the role.

7. Genuinely kind and compassionate character (especially due to the sensitive nature of our work) is non-negotiable. We work hard but always care about our staff and customers, so we are looking for someone who fits in with these values.
