Job Summary This position will be responsible for technical writing on a new program. The technical writer designs, writes/develops the technical manuals to client expectations, and works closely with the Savancy s clients and Savancy s employees to deliver high-quality technical manuals on various media (print, web, and mobile).
Duties and Responsibilities
The role includes:
  • Analyzing customer information requirements and product specifications
  • Interviewing subject matter experts and client stakeholders to collect the data, variables and custom information necessary to write manuals
  • Identifying and analyzing existing content
  • Working closely with client s project manager and SME
  • Conforming to development and style guide
  • Designing and developing written and/or visual product-related manuals for print, web, and mobile
  • Identify required media (i.e. video audio, photos, animation, simulation, etc.)
  • Adhering to defined technical writing standards, best practices, style guides, templates, scripts, style sheets, and graphic libraries
  • Defining usability tests and providing feedback on ease of use and user interfaces
  • Working and liaising with other technical writers, multimedia, technology team and review their work
  • Identifying and resolving any technical writing/documentation related issues
  • Presenting solutions to the client
  • Providing input and guidance regarding time estimates for planning and deploying documentation solutions

Required Qualification and Skills
  • Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Product Design, Technology, or Science (or comparable education)
  • 10+ years of technical writing experience
  • Experience in industrial, automobile, or aerospace industry
  • Experience in web and mobile solutions
  • Experience of technical writing methodologies, standards, best practices, and working with style guides, templates, scripts, style sheets, and graphic libraries
  • Experience of working with SMEs and cross-functional teams
  • Experience with some type of content management system and authoring tools
  • XML, HTML5 experience is preferred (not mandatory)
  • Experience in Instructional Design would be an asset (not mandatory)
  • Knowledge of adult learning and technical writing methodologies
  • Strong verbal, writing, and listening skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

The candidate should be:
  • Eligible to work in Canada, if applying for Mississauga
  • Eligible to work in India, if applying for Mumbai or Bangalore
  • Open to travel (as needed)
