Job Summary

About the Role

As an Engineering Manager on the Global Payroll team, you will be part of a dynamic group focused on launching payroll solutions in new countries at rapid speed. You will collaborate closely with product management and cross-functional teams including Product Engineers, Infrastructure, Sales, and others to develop robust and well-designed products that ensure a seamless payroll experience for over 10,000 customers. Your contributions will also help expand Rippling's total addressable market with each new launch.

What You Will Do

  • Own Payroll for Germany: Lead the development of payroll solutions for one of our largest non-U.S. markets, unlocking significant revenue potential.
  • Manage a Growing Team: Balance your time between technical product planning, coding, hiring, and managing a team of approximately 6-7 engineers.
  • Technical Leadership: Be hands-on with technical architecture and code reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Design Scalable Systems: Navigate complex business rules to design and implement scalable backend systems that deliver real impact for our customers.
  • Future Improvements: Utilize existing platforms while identifying opportunities for future enhancements.

What You Will Need

  • Experience: At least 8 years in software development and delivery, with in-depth knowledge of software architectures. A minimum of 1-2 years as an Engineering Manager leading small to mid-sized development teams.
  • Customer-Centric Mindset: An outstanding focus on customer needs, a growth mindset, and a strong desire to make an impact.
  • Technical Skills: Strong coding, design, and architectural skills, positioning you as a technical leader within the team.
  • Analytical Abilities: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to tackle complex challenges.
  • Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication abilities to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
