Background on the Team

Clients Institutional Operations established a global equity trade support team in Mumbai, in 2009. Approximately 35 functions were transferred from the Institutional Equity Divisions trade support groups in New York, Baltimore, London, Glasgow, Hong Kong, Sydney and Tokyo.

The product scope includes primarily cash equities and also other products that are traded by equity trading desks around the world, including FX, listed derivatives, principal investments, bonds, loans, commodities, ETFs, swaps and derivatives. The supported trading desks include equity sector/core, electronic trading, program trading, emerging markets, and several Firm trading desks (internal hedge funds).

Core functions transferred to the Mumbai team includes:

• Trade processing exceptions
• Certain trade booking / amendments
• Position (trading account) reconciliation
• Position break flagging and categorization
• Settlement fails monitoring
• P&L break research
• Reference data maintenance
• Business process improvement

Primary Responsibilities

• An absolute focus on risk controls. The teams will be responsible for reconciling and accurately representing traders positions. The tolerance for error or delay is very low to zero.
• Hire and train the best people we can find in the market
• Ensure timely, accurate, and complete communications between the Mumbai team and trade support groups and other operations/finance/IT/business teams in the various offices
• Learn Clients businesses, organization, procedures, controls, systems, and staff management practices, as rapidly and thoroughly as possible
• Improve business processes to strengthen controls, communications, and improve efficiency

Skills required (essential)
