Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Java Backend Engineer with expertise in monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog and Splunk. As part of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance backend services, while leveraging Datadog and Splunk to ensure operational visibility and optimize the reliability of our systems.

This role requires deep knowledge of Java backend technologies, coupled with hands-on experience in integrating and utilizing monitoring and logging solutions to maintain and improve the health of our microservices infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable and robust Java-based backend systems that support the core functionality of our applications.

• Monitoring & Observability: Integrate Datadog and Splunk into our backend services to monitor performance, detect issues, and create insightful dashboards and alerts.

• Log Management: Use Splunk to aggregate and analyze logs, troubleshoot issues, and optimize application performance. Create and manage log processing pipelines.

• Performance Optimization: Continuously improve the performance and efficiency of our backend services by analyzing data from Datadog and Splunk, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing solutions.

• Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers, DevOps, and SRE teams to ensure smooth deployment and performance monitoring of backend services.

• Incident Management: Respond to system incidents, investigate root causes, and work on post-mortem analysis with the team to reduce downtime and improve system stability.

• Documentation: Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation on backend systems, monitoring configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in Java backend development.
  • Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring tools, specifically Datadog and Splunk.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Java (Spring Boot, Hibernate, etc.) and related frameworks.
  • Expertise in monitoring, alerting, and log aggregation tools, specifically Datadog and Splunk.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.).
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.

• Tools & Technologies:

  • Datadog: Experience with application performance monitoring (APM), infrastructure monitoring, log aggregation, and alerting.
  • Splunk: Proficiency in using Splunk for log management, creating dashboards, and performing deep-dive troubleshooting.
  • CI/CD pipeline tools (Jenkins, GitLab, etc.) for automating deployment processes.
  • Knowledge of message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and caching systems (Redis, Memcached).
