Job Summary Job Description: Pharmacist Position Summary: The Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe and accurate dispensing of medications to patients. This role involves a variety of tasks, including prescription processing, drug information, inventory management, and compliance with regulatory standards. The Pharmacist will also play a key role in promoting patient safety and optimizing medication therapy. Key Responsibilities: Medication Dispensing: Accurately dispense prescriptions according to physician orders. Verify medication doses and patient allergies. Provide patient counseling on medication use and side effects. Pharmacy Formulary: Participate in the development and maintenance of the pharmacy formulary. Evaluate new medications for inclusion in the formulary. Billing: Process bills for dispensed medications for both inpatients and outpatients. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Implement and adhere to SOPs related to pharmacy operations. Drug Information: Provide drug information to patients, healthcare professionals, and other staff members. Inventory Management: Ensure proper storage and record-keeping of medications. Monitor drug inventory levels and reorder as needed. Manage expired and recalled medications. Medication Safety: Review and monitor patient medication profiles for potential drug interactions or adverse effects. Promote patient safety through medication education and counseling. Quality Assurance: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, such as those related to medication safety and patient privacy. Qualifications: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree Current pharmacy license Strong knowledge of pharmacology and medication therapy Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Additional Skills (Preferred): Experience in hospital pharmacy Knowledge of pharmacy automation systems Experience in medication therapy management Job Type: Full-time
