Job Summary
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Broad scientific & agronomic understanding, ability to select optimal trial sites or fields, good understanding of trial designs and goals. Individual who can solve practical problems in sometimes remote locations and is committed to a strong safety and stewardship culture. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that promotes cooperation with customers, collaborators, vendors, co-workers and management. Ability to interact with growers and to give clear directions to contractors. Good command of English & Hindi as well as local languages that are relevant to the allocated territory or zone.
Product Development
Conduct or monitor trials to characterize the field performance of chemistries in line with technical objectives plan by Mahindra Summit Agriscience and pertinent company stewardship guidelines e.g. site selection based on technical objectives, understanding and writing of protocols, secure evaluation agreements, forecasting sample needs and organizing local shipments of test materials. Accountable for planting, applications and evaluations. Accountable for destruction of crop after trial completion according to local regulations.
Primary responsibility includes execution and timely completion of all biology characterization studies for compounds in the field
Ensure optimal technical value propositions of new product under development and existing products.
Summarize data at local level and contribute to field trial data summaries
Provide local knowledge on crop management practices, issues, trends to product development as well as commercial organization
Support product launches as part of a cross functional team in the country or commercial units.
Supports sales representatives, technology transfer leaders and regulatory specialists
External interactions include local academic & research institutions, contract research organizations, temporary workers, local agricultural officials, growers and technical as well as commercial staff.
Builds the local biology dossier to support product registration/label expansion applications based on locally generated bio-efficacy data.
Measures and documents field performance, understands resistance issues, and identifies trends and issues relative to current and emerging competition in the assigned territory. Proposes technical positioning to the Portfolio Teams based on local needs and requirements in the assigned territory.
Works with Regulatory specialists to ensure that all trial work is done in compliance with local regulations.
Functional knowledge of all key and secondary crops and pests within the territory is essential.
Technology Exchange
Provide training on products in the registration phase and help with product efficacy and benefit demonstrations to marketing and sales teams
Represents Mahindra Summit Agriscience at relevant local government academic and research institutions; and documents emerging trends and technology related to agriculture.
Participate in product trainings for internal & external customers
Participate in scientific meetings at local research institutions
Marketing and Sales Support
Serves as R&D expert and technical focal point for specific products and crops in the assigned territory.
Both direct and indirect support of marketing and sales is provided, with indirect support being most frequent
Serve as an alternative technical source for customers
Network with peers, Technical Service, Sales Managers, and Product Development management to identify new business opportunities
Safety
Responsible for field safety in handling and storage of pesticides and equipment used to conduct field trials
Operate vehicle in safe manner. Assists in safety training on pesticide use to territory Sales personnel
