As we scale our operations, we are seeking a seasoned Head of Category to lead and drive the growth of our product categories.

Position Overview: The Head of Category will be a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of our categories. This role involves building and growing categories with a focus on international markets, executing end-to-end functions including category research, positioning, pricing, and establishing a competitive edge. You will work closely with the product marketing, technology and customer service teams to create and execute go-to-market plans, optimize category performance using data-driven insights, and enhance user experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Category Strategy and Growth:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies to drive growth and market share.
  • Conduct in-depth category research by geography to identify opportunities, trends, and competitive positioning.
  • Build and grow categories in international markets, adapting strategies to local market conditions.
  • Category Management:
  • Oversee all aspects of category management, including product pricing , discounts, gross margin, shipping optimization.
  • Establish and manage relationships production to create and manage quality and turnaround time expectations.
  • Analyse category performance and develop actionable insights to drive sales and profitability.
  • Conversion Optimization:
  • Enhance conversion rates by analysing and optimizing conversion funnel, including add-to-cart, cart-to-checkout, checkout-to-payment processes. Drive improvements in reviews, ratings, page load times, and bounce rates.

  • Go-to-Market Planning:
  • Collaborate with product marketing and technology teams to create and execute go-to-market plans.
  • Ensure alignment between category strategy and marketing initiatives to drive product awareness and customer acquisition.
  • Develop and implement promotional strategies and campaigns to boost category performance.
  • Work with product on establishing category journey
  • Work with merchandizing team and category sponsor on landing pages and options
  • Data-Driven Optimization:
  • Leverage data analytics to monitor category performance, track key metrics, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Utilize data insights to optimize product assortment, pricing, and positioning for maximum growth and user satisfaction.
  • Implement and refine processes based on data-driven feedback to enhance category performance and user experience.
  • User Experience:
  • Ensure a seamless and engaging user experience across category pages and product listings.
  • Work with UX/UI teams to enhance the usability and design of category pages, optimizing for conversion and customer satisfaction.
  • Gather and incorporate user feedback to continually improve the category experience.
  • Leadership and Team Management:
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team, setting clear goals and providing regular feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team culture.
  • Drive professional development and growth within the category team.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience
  • 15+ year experience in e-commerce with a strong background in category management and P&L ownership.
  • Significant experience in building and growing online product categories, preferably in international markets.
  • Proven track record of managing end-to-end category functions including research, positioning, pricing, and strategy.
  • Experience in creating and executing go-to-market plans in collaboration with product marketing and technology teams.
  • Skills
  • Deep understanding of eCommerce dynamics, category management, and market trends.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable strategies.
  • Excellent knowledge of user experience principles and how to enhance online shopping experiences.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a high-performance team

Educational Background:

  • MBA preferred in Marketing, Economics and/or related field. Strong foundation in business principles is essential.
  • Certifications in Marketing, Data Analytics or Supply Chain will be a plus.
