Inviting applications for the role of Vice President, Data Architect

This role will be responsible for the development of the requirements, principles and models for the future-state EIA. The candidate will identify the gaps between the future-state and current-state.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business unit leadership, and through the rationalization of the information value chain, the information architect will provide strategic recommendations to improve the value of information assets via their creation, access and use.
  • Develop value creation using the organization's data assets, as well as the external data ecosystem. This includes aiding value creation through data exploitation, envisioning data-enabled strategies, as well as enabling all forms of business outcomes.
  • Surface information priority: Assess the benefits and the risks of information to build an information-centric view to quickly visualize what information matters most to the organization based on the defined business strategy.
  • Improve decision making: Use tools such as business information models to provide the organization with a future-state view that is unencumbered by the specific data implementation details imposed by proprietary solutions or technologies. Assist decision design.
  • Enable enterprise information management: Ensure that the architecture is used as a lens and a filter to identify, prioritize and execute the initiatives with clear line of sight to enterprise strategies and business outcomes.
  • Aid in the analysis of security requirements and solutions, and work with the chief information security officer (CISO) [and CDO] to ensure that enterprise data and analytics assets are treated as a protected assets.
  • Improve EIM performance: Aid efforts to improve business performance through enterprise information solutions and capabilities, such as master data management (MDM), metadata management, analytics, content management, data integration, and related information management or information infrastructure components

Minimum qualifications

  • Graduate (Technology)
  • Effective conceptualization, pattern recognition and teaming skills.
  • Eye for business, and ability to communicate to executives, business domain partners and technical staff alike.
  • Confirmed influence, communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Experience with innovation and play-test methods, such as design thinking.
  • Business domain, data/content and process understanding (which are more important than technical skills).
  • System integration experience, including interface design, and familiarity with architecture techniques.
  • Data modeling and information classification expertise at the enterprise level.
  • Understanding of common information architecture frameworks and information models.
  • Familiarity with data science concepts, as well as MDM, business intelligence, and data warehouse design and implementation techniques.
  • Experience with distributed management and analytics in cloud and hybrid environments. Also an understanding of a variety of data access and analytics approaches (for example, microservices and event-based architectures).
  • Good communication and persuasion skills, build marketing and messaging materials that meet partner needs.

Preferred qualifications

  • Demonstrate the ability to work well with others and exhibit leadership.
  • Have a track record of remaining candid toward specific technologies or vendors.
  • Be an excellent communicator and collaborator, engaging with multiple technical and business partners and leaders.
  • Be able to translate the information architecture contribution to business outcomes into simple briefings for use by various data-and-analytics-related roles.
  • Organizationally savvy, with a good understanding of the enterprise's political climate and how to navigate, influence and persuade political waters.
  • Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies
