Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SQL database administrator (DBA) to work in our IT department. Key

responsibilities will include monitoring, updating, and fine-tuning the performance of existing technologies,

as well as recommending and implementing new technologies when they become available. The ideal

candidate is a self-starter with excellent communication skills who can work in a dynamic environment

with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provide all levels of database support during normal business hours and off-hours
  • Monitor, update, and fine-tune the performance of database technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues and problems
  • Strong T-SQL scripting abilities and understanding of complex stored procedures, views, data aggregation and manipulation through table joins and queries, database design, normalization and de-normalization techniques, database analytical functions, In-Line queries, and Sub-Queries.
  • Manage database backups, restores and recoveries, when needed.
  • Recommend and deploy necessary solutions upon receiving approval from management
  • Demonstrated experience in data extraction and manipulation, ETL techniques required using
  • Visual Studio 2013 and above
  • Knowledge of SQL and data warehousing concepts.
  • Strong knowledge of TSQL, PL/SQL for SQL Server and Oracle
  • Performance tuning experience
  • Understanding of data integration issues (validating and cleaning) familiar with complex data structures.
  • Requires strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Possesses strong oral and written communications skills, clearly and accurately communicating complex and or technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and assess and adjust quickly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of professional Database Administration experience and a Bachelor of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in Computer Science or related area of study. Without a degree, four additional years of relevant professional experience (9+ years in total)
  • Recent experience in MS SQL Server versions 2017/2019
  • Expertise with SQL Server Integration Service (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Service (SSRS), and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
  • Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimisation (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MS SQL Server 2017/2019
  • Experience with Virtualisation and Always On availability
  • Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts
  • Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics
  • SQL and relational DBMS knowledge, including data modelling and ERD
  • Well disciplined in work-in production environment
