Job Summary

Purpose

Documenting new products while learning theassigned products and sharing the knowledge with the team. Also, concentratingon the documentation flow and topic transition concepts while documenting.

Specific Responsibilities:


RequirementGathering During Project Execution:

a. Quickly grasp complex technical concepts andmake them easily understandable in text and pictures.

b. Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depthunderstanding of the product and the documentation requirements.

c. Work collaboratively with developers,validators, SMEs, and so forth to make our documentation easier to use.

Technical writingof Ovation and add on releases:

a. Must adhere to Technical Communication StyleGuide provided by Pittsburgh and MSTP guidelines during every documentationcycle.

b. Analyze, reuse, edit, or create contentaccording to the documentation requirement.

c. Address all the assigned SRFs, SDRs, andFindings for a particular release.

d. Commit to find and document the featuresmissed and not updated in the previous releases.

e. Work on the documentation of new Ovationproducts under minimal guidance.

f.Create user manual and online help to help end-users use avariety of Ovation applications.

g. Create and maintain the informationarchitecture paying attention to documentation flow, topic transition, andconsistency concepts.

h. Deliver high quality documentation payingattention to detail.

Project Execution:

a. Regularly attend and actively participate inthe project conference calls to discuss the status and queries.

b. Work diligently on the feedback received fromSMEs, peers, editors, and leads and proceed towards the project closureprocedures (print and ISO) on timely basis.

c. Update the Writer Assignment sheet and sendwork progress report to GEC lead on timely basis.

Other Key Skills

a. Develop skill set of at least two of theassigned Ovation products such as Alarms, Point Information, Trends, OPH, SBR,and so forth.

b. Must share expertise such as sharing knowledgeregularly by conducting brainstorming sessions, product demo/hands on, and soforth in the team.

c. Be a software administrator to install orupgrade Ovation builds and resolve issues related to Paligo, MS Word, Visio, andso forth, when required.

d. Help in improving the technical writingprocesses with new ideas.

e. Continually learn from the editorial feedbackand strive to get the review comments closure in single iteration.

Attend all theassigned training sessions to develop/enhance skills.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • B.E/B.Tech in Computer Science/Electronics/Electrical/Instrumentation or BCA/MCA with5-8 years of technical writing experience. Basic knowledge of Distributed Control Systems and Power Plant process would be preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in English.
  • Must have good knowledge of MSTP.
  • Must have excellent knowledge of AuthorIT or any other authoring tool.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to interact and gather required information from Subject Matter Expert(s) (SME).
  • Self-motivated and willing to accept challenging assignments.
  • Passionto learn new products and share knowledge with the team.
