Job Description:

This is a great opportunity for an engineer seeking new challenges and additional responsibility. The Messaging Platforms team works with product and development to build safe, secure, and scalable email features for our customers, as well as support and sales teams to ensure our customers are sending high-quality, wanted mail. The Systems Engineer plays a key role building, maintaining, and iterating our application s infrastructure. You will help us complete our transition into a fully cloud-hosted environment and will contribute to the design and deployment of our go-forward architecture. We are looking for an engineer who can take ownership and exercise good judgement while resolving critical issues. You will be expected to take ownership and responsibility for our email infrastructure s health and performance to ensure stability and high deliverability for our customers.

Responsibilities:

Provision, maintain, and upgrade Linux-based mail systems via CloudFormation, CDK, and other automation tools

Configure server and service monitoring for applications deployed in AWS

Write operational scripts in bash, python, and/or Powershell

Create and triage alarms from monitoring tools such as Datadog, NewRelic and Splunk

Update and tune mail configurations to optimize mail flow and deliverability

Rearchitect existing services to optimize cost, improve performance, and simplify operations

Develop alerting and monitoring for the team and other internal stakeholders

Create and maintain documentation including design and project documentation, run books, etc.

Continually identify, improve, and document processes and procedures

Requirements:

B.Tech degree or equivalent work experience

5-8 years work experience

Demonstrated ability in Linux and systems administration

Experience managing cloud-based infrastructure in AWS

Strong working knowledge of building alerts and dashboards in Splunk

Working knowledge of cloud automation tools like CloudFormation, CDK, and Terraform.

Experience managing high-volume email deployments (e.g. PowerMTA, Momentum, etc.) at scale preferred

Familiarity with Postgres or S3-based data lakes preferred

Strong analytical skills to pull together and analyze data to make actionable recommendations and reports

Excellent problem solving, self-study and internet research skills

Confident, motivated and articulate with strong verbal and written communication skills

Familiarity with a ticketing system such as Jira, ServiceNow, or ZenDesk

Ability to work independently managing multiple projects, responsibilities and competing priorities in a fast-paced, analytical environment
