Project Leader Commercial Aviation
About the Role:
We are seeking a Project Leader to join the AMS CoE (Advanced Management Support Center). As a Project Leader, you will focus on supporting Bain Global case teams, specifically in the commercial aviation space, which includes airlines, aerospace OEMs, MROs (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul), and related sectors. The role involves leading teams, managing projects, and offering deep expertise in the commercial aerospace industry.
In this role, you will work alongside a highly motivated and talented team of analysts and associates to deliver high-quality, actionable insights for our clients. You will be exposed to various aspects of the aviation value chain, such as aircraft production, demand forecasting, market trends, and more.
What You ll Do:
- Project Management: Lead a team of Analysts and Associates to deliver research, analysis, and insights for Bain Global clients, managing all aspects of project delivery.
- Aerospace Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert on the commercial aerospace sector, with a focus on production and demand for various aircraft globally.
- Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and maintain expertise in commercial aerospace trends, including industry forecasts, key market issues, and challenges facing global aerospace markets. Regularly update forecasts and offer actionable analytical support through reports and publications.
- Client Interaction: Manage client relationships and effectively interface with Bain Aerospace and Defense Practice Leaders from global offices. Provide support and insights for live client cases, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Content Leadership: Provide thought leadership by delivering high-quality research and analysis, solving open-ended problems, and sharing best practices. Contribute to the development of strategic content that can be used for both client-facing and internal purposes.
- Team Leadership: May have responsibility for managing a small team of analysts, including allocating work, providing performance feedback, and conducting performance discussions.
- Innovation and Problem Solving: Use a strategic mindset to identify and solve niche problems, providing solutions and insights through baselining and benchmarking global best practices.
About You:
Experience:
- If your highest qualification is an undergraduate degree, you should have 5-8 years of experience in consulting, research, or analytics, specifically with experience in the commercial aviation industry (airlines, aerospace OEMs, MROs, etc.).
- If your highest qualification is a postgraduate degree, you should have 3-6 years of relevant experience in consulting, research, or analytics within the commercial aviation industry.
- Prior experience working with large datasets, BI tools, and platforms like Alteryx is essential.
Educational Background:
- A graduate or post-graduate degree from a top-tier institute or in a commerce, statistical, or analytical course from a Tier 1 university is required.
Industry Knowledge:
- You should have hands-on consulting or industry experience in the commercial aviation sector, with a solid understanding of aviation datasets from sources such as Aviation Week, IATA, Cirium, and other key aviation data platforms.
Consulting Experience:
- You should be currently working in a strategy consulting or research-oriented environment with the ability to solve complex, open-ended problems within the commercial aviation space.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong analytical, research, and storylining skills, with the ability to synthesize large amounts of data and develop actionable insights.
- Ability to manage and lead client and team meetings effectively.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to handle complex problems with strategic thinking and innovative solutions.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to travel intermittently to other Bain offices or client locations as needed for live cases.
