Compliance Operations (C-Ops) is part of Health Safety Sustainability Security and Compliance (HSSSC) organization within Amazon. C-Ops ensures that Amazon transactions satisfy legal and safety requirements in compliance with guidelines set by regulatory bodies. We coordinate with aspects of identifying the risk involved in handling a hazardous product while storage and transport and classifying products with appropriate hazmat attributes. This team also review aspects of product transactions that are regulated (distribution, shipping, sale, and import/export). This involves analyzing product import documentation and enabling products for Global Imports and Exports within Amazon.

We are looking for talented Trade Compliance Risk Manager to support our rapidly growing and evolving businesses. You will support operations by executing on a broad range of import and export compliance matters, including high profile projects related to trade compliance automation. You will work directly with GTS program retail procurement teams, transportation operations, legal, tax and a variety of internal businesses and outside vendors to drive compliance across the supply chain.
Principal Duties
Provide strategic expertise on import customs regulations and advise internal business customers on best practices and requirements Think Big and Drive Innovation by partnering with Amazons internal technology teams to develop best-in-class trade compliance business processes
Work with Amazons Global Trade Services, Trade Counsel and other cross-functional teams to execute strategy, build and monitor global import processes, seek automation opportunities and leverage technology
Work closely with partner teams on cross-border execution including supply chain integration, classification, valuation reviews, and audit workflows.
Lead the efforts on people capability building within C-Ops across nodes
Applying SME level knowledge of U.S. regulations, to create disruptive and innovative solutions to compliance. Inventing and simplifying processes and requirements to enable vendors, and supply chain to expand selection and availability globally.
Manage large and complicated, cross-functional projects
Develop best-in-class processes, systems, and standard operating procedures as well as drive continual improvement.
Drive scalable business solutions which ensure compliance with Global Trade regulations
Communicate technical regulatory requirements to non-technical stakeholders
Ensure that U.S. regulatory requirements are met for products and support other functions such as Retail, Supply Chain, Transportation, Customer Service, and Legal.
Proven ability to manage large and complicated, cross-functional projects.
Work cross-functionally and manage compliance training and awareness raising programs in retail, operations and sales teams.
Lead cross functional teams to achieve highest levels of compliance, reduce regulatory risks, minimize exposure to duties and taxes and allow efficient flow of goods across international borders
Own the functional requirements process and delivery of business requirements within Trade Compliance Services for activities that includes but not restricted to management of Free Trade Agreements, Duty Drawbacks, Anti-Dumping and Countervailing Duties etc.
Lead and manage various projects having specific requirements for Global Trade Compliance program and training of newly hired employees to improvise the supported services.
Providing import and export solutions that ensure compliance with trade regulations issued by Partnering Government Agencies (PGA) for various countries.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited university
8+ years of experience in a similar/relevant role (Global Trade)
Experience in partnering and engaging with global leaders
Experience using performance metrics
Experience leading direct reports, including development and performance management
High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
Good problem-solving skills: acts decisively, promptly and confidently. Not afraid to contradict others and proactively offering solutions.
Self-starter capable to taking initiative and working with minimal direction.
Fluent in English, both verbal and written
Ability to work in highly ambiguous environment with multiple stakeholders
