Manager, Startup Solutions Architecture Job in Amazon

The AWS Startup Solutions Architecture team is comprised of customer-obsessed technical experts who spend their time helping early stage startups as they build their businesses. The team is here to make sure that these companies can deploy the best, most scalable, and most secure architectures possible and that they spend as little time and money as possible doing so. As well as working with these customers directly, members of this team also work with key startup influencer and investor groups, such as VC funds, and incubators or accelerators.

Your technical background will allow you to lead by example and ensure that you can deeply understand the perspective of your team members and empathize with them.

Youll engage with a host of other AWS leaders as you work with your team members to build plans that define how we will help early stage startup customers. These plans will encompass both one-to-one engagements with specific customers as well as broadening your teams impact via one-to-few or one-to-many engagements involving multiple customers. Youll also work with other AWS teams such as marketing and training to define how your team will contribute to scaled activities such as technical content creation or speaking at events.

Many of our innovations and product improvements are driven by customer feedback: youll also develop and use mechanisms that ensure the insights your team gains from their engagements with customers are delivered to relevant service engineering teams so that we can keep improving our products and make sure they continue to be relevant to early stage startups.

Roles & Responsibilities
Hire, on-board, train, and develop new Solutions Architects from internal and external sources
Coach the team to improve their skills in conducting one-to-few and one-to-many engagements with customers
Through your team and your own engagements, educate startup customers on the value that AWS can provide them, and participate in architectural discussions to ensure solutions are well-architected for the cloud
Guide and motivate the development of high-value customer facing technical content and best practices to reach startup customers at scale
Work with other AWS leaders to build comprehensive plans for your teams engagement with customers

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of technology related experience in one of the following domains: solutions architecture, software or infrastructure engineering, pre-sales consulting or technical business development
2+ years managing technical staff
2+ years working knowledge of cutting-edge software development tools and methodologies or architecting, building, or operating cloud-based applications or infrastructures

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong verbal and written communications skills
High level of comfort communicating effectively across internal and external organizations
Professional experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS or other cloud platforms
A passion for learning and for helping others to learn
Comfort with assuming high-profile leadership roles in demanding, highly-visible customer situations
Comfort speaking on highly-technical subjects in front of what may be large audiences (200-500 people)
Experience working with startups and technical founders and entrepreneurs
Hands-on experience with AWS
AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional certification
Experience in the startup community (e.g. founder, mentor, early technical employee
