Designation: Head, Strategic Business Development, Amazon India
Amazon is seeking a Strategic Business Development (SBD) Leader to join the India team.
This is a unique opportunity to join a centralized team that manages strategic partnerships across all of Amazon businesses. As a Strategic Business Development Leader you will be responsible for generating, managing, and executing some of Amazon Indias most complex and high impact strategic alliance activities while having a strong technical aptitude to identify best in class alliances for Amazon India. This includes managing relationships and assisting for deals which are unconventional in nature, need a centralized advocate, and/or have broader implications to Amazon India. You will interact with senior leaders at Amazon India across several of Amazons business: Amazon Web Services, Amazon.in, Kindle, Amazon Payments, Amazon Prime and any other future business which Amazon might launch in India.
This key role will be highly visible at the most senior levels of Amazon. You will need to work collaboratively with internal management teams to understand where our relative advantages or risks lie, if/when major features are in existing roadmaps, and current trends around innovation, consolidation and customer adoption. We dive deep and provide thoughtful technical analysis, but are adaptable and action-oriented, focused on quickly gaining enough context to enable informed decision-making. Identifying and executing strategic partnerships is our primary objective.
While using our global SBD playbook, the SBD Leader will be responsible to design an India specific strategy, which services all SBD needs. The Leader will interact with Seattle SBD teams and work closely with Amazon India leaders to design the right strategy. In addition to strategic business development, you will work closely with the Corporate Development team to design an investing strategy in strategic partnerships to create significant leverage.

Specific responsibilities include the following:
Design an India specific strategy that can evolve into a broad framework for entering into strategic partnerships and alliances
Take the lead to identify, evaluate, and manage partnerships that can involve marketing, content, commerce, and technology components.
Be a central point of contact for all strategic partnerships for Amazon India
Ability to assess technical feasibility for all our businesses.
Evaluate the economic and strategic cost-benefit of partnerships.
Lead cross-functional teams including Product, Operations, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Tax, Accounting, Corporate Development and senior management to execute on the relationships.
Develop best practices to foster, manage, and track opportunities.
Support the strategic objectives and interests of Amazon Indias business teams.
Recommend investments in key strategic partnerships. Carry out valuation analysis and investment thesis/themes.
Preferred qualifications
MBA/MS from a top-tier B-School
7+ years of applicable experience in strategic business development, product management, investment banking, or venture investing experience
End-to-end deal experience, including identifying, developing, and executing successful partnerships such as largescale marketing deals, technical collaborations, complex digital media transactions, and strategic technology relationships.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively while applying sound business judgment and quantitative analytics.
Ability to manage and recommend strategic investment decisions.
Thought leader with a solid understanding of multiple industries and their intersection with commerce.
Excellent oral and written skills to communicate complex issues and influence others internally and externally.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability gain respect of senior management and external executives.
Ability to build and maintain a network of relationships which facilitate deal flow.
