The Role: Principal Product Designer

As a Principal Product Designer, you ll drive design excellence across Upstox s most critical fintech experiences. In this senior individual contributor role, you ll shape user experiences through deep, hands-on design work without the responsibilities of people management. You ll help guide the evolution of our design systems and deliver intuitive, elegant, and scalable product solutions that directly impact millions.

This is a pivotal role where design is not just support it s a strategic force in product development.

Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design of core product experiences from user research and ideation to execution and delivery
• Lead the development and scaling of a cohesive, cross-platform design system
• Translate user needs, business goals, and research insights into high-impact, pixel-perfect solutions
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, marketers, and compliance teams
• Continuously measure and refine design output using KPIs, analytics, and user feedback
• Champion design thinking across the organization, advocating for user needs and design best practices
• Set a high design bar through thought leadership, mentorship, and hands-on execution

What We re Looking For

• 9+ years of experience in product design, ideally in consumer tech or fintech
• A strong portfolio that showcases deep user insight, systems thinking, and excellent execution across platforms
• Proficiency with Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, and experience building and managing design systems
• Strong foundation in user-centered design, accessibility standards, and familiarity with fintech compliance
• Exceptional communication skills you articulate design decisions with clarity and influence across functions
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and excited by complex problem-solving in fast-paced environments
• Bachelor s degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred)
