Job Summary

The Lead - IT Purchasewill be responsible for sourcing equipment, goods and services and managing vendors. The successful candidate will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, search for better deals and find more profitable suppliers.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Define and Deliver IT Commercial Strategy for UPL
  • Extract business expectation and design IT Commercial strategy aligned to business goals
  • Subject Matter Expertise:
    • Expertise around IT commercial; providing advice and guidance related to current and future technologies
    • Awareness of licensing terms of technologies
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Proactively develops, builds and maintains flexible working partnerships with the Business Area stakeholders and IT colleagues across the units; establishing and maintaining an effective working relationship with key stakeholders.
    • Maintain a supplier contract calendar and database and records relating to supplier engagement and renewal requirements and ensure prompt renegotiation where appropriate.
    • Own the Supplier Performance Management process and ensure compliance & also suppliers are delivering against their obligations.
  • Procurement:
    • Leads the complex negotiations, procurement and contracting activities required for the purchase / renewal of all IT Service aligned to the commercial strategy.
    • Audit existing contracts to ensure commercial risks are understood, accepted or mitigated and renegotiate, where appropriate, to ensure more favourable terms which support their IT strategy.
    • Take responsibility for IT inventory across organisation
    • Periodic Audit and Physical verification of the inventory
  • Negotiating with vendors and implementing policies and processes to minimise spend and risk while ensuring and promoting quality, efficiency, performance and pace of delivery
  • Optimisation: continually seeks to drive best value from the processes, contracts and partnerships that underpin the IT Procurement approach; maintaining a continuous focus on the performance of the IT Commercial function and proactively identifying opportunities to improve.
  • Responsible for IT Financial Management tasks, including but not limited to:
    • Timely closure of contract. OTIF to be high.
    • Formulate, implement and manage the IT Commercial policy, processes and procedures for effective management and control of related IT costs. Ensure error free process for procurement.
    • Ensure additional and on-going IT costs e.g. for additional or extended services are understood and budgeted for
    • Support IT budget preparation
    • Own the IT day-to-day operational procurement process
    • Ensure all costs are known, budgeted, forecasted, reported and managed
    • Proactively identify opportunities to make IT more cost effective, having an understanding of all components of IT service delivery
  • Effective Interaction with senior executives to drive strategy
  • Develop and manage high performing team
  • Foster multi-function collaboration, maximize employee commitment and Lead change
  • Develop second line
  • Supporting the team: Ensuring that IT Commercial is a trusted advisor both within and the wider IT community. Delivering best in class commercial activity within an agile framework

Required Qualification :

  • B.E. / B.Tech. with8-12 years of experience
  • Prior experience inIT Procurement Operations in Manufacturing Setup

Required Knowledge :

  • Experience of commercial / procurement within a large complex IT organisation
  • Demonstrable understanding and knowledge of the IT vendor market place
  • Articulate and numerate with a strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate reporting within tight and fluid timescales and deadlines
  • Ability to negotiate and challenge at all levels
  • Awareness of laws and regulatory issues applicable/relevant to IT (including intellectual property rights, data protection, PCI DSS and telecoms)
  • Strong management experience with complex IT contracts
  • A strong technical knowledge of current and emerging IT products and services
  • A strong reputation for placing the customer at the heart of all planning
  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
