Job Summary
Engineering Manager Key Responsibilities: Strategy: Develop long-term strategic plans and initiatives to achieve business goals. Collaborate cross-functionally to drive significant business results. Exercise independent judgment to develop strategic vision within the functional area. Partner with other departments on strategic and operational initiatives. Engineering Operations and Execution: Establish objectives for product and project groups and ensure timely and high-quality delivery. Implement operational policies and communicate progress toward goals. Anticipate future business needs and make informed decisions. Manage budgets and finances according to forecasts and plans. Innovation and Problem Solving: Provide innovative solutions to complex problems. Drive new product development from concept to production. Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance business growth and product offerings. Leadership and Management: Oversee engineering staff, ensuring they meet goals and achieve their full potential. Develop and assign challenging tasks, evaluate performance, and support career development. Foster a culture of growth, ownership, and high trust within the engineering team. Serve as a technical consultant and leader, ensuring adherence to engineering best practices and SDLC protocols. Hiring, Training, and Growth: Recruit top talent to strengthen the engineering team. Develop and implement training plans to ensure employee development. Foster a positive and engaging work environment to drive employee satisfaction and retention. Create growth plans for all roles to support career advancement. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering. Master's degree in computer science or engineering preferred. 12+ years of relevant experience, including 7+ years of product and/or engineering leadership. Proven ability to align engineering goals with business objectives. Experience leading development teams for SaaS applications or platforms. Expertise in new technologies, prototyping, and project delivery. Strong experience in performance, scalability, web services, and open-source technologies within a SaaS environment. Domain knowledge in finance, accounting software, banking solutions, or payment automation is a plus. Experience working in an offshore engineering setup with distributed teams. Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Agile/Scrum project and people management experience. Ability to build and lead diverse teams. Experience developing KPIs, interpreting data, and making data-driven decisions. Process-oriented approach with a focus on quality deliverables. Experience managing first-line managers and senior individual contributors. Ability to analyze financial and budget data. Proven ability to identify and groom future engineering leaders.
