Job Summary

Directs team(s) of professional staff and more junior managers (domestic and/or global) responsible for completing the strategy implementation, data analysis and reporting, risk and recovery management and process improvement activities of the Credit Analysis & Reporting, Operational Credit Risk, Country Risk or Credit Administration discipline. Implements the overall discipline strategy and policies as they apply to the assigned team(s), and contributes to plans and programs to implement changes and improvements. Completes discipline strategy changes to further improve compliance or become compliant with organizational policies and regulations. Continues to build knowledge of differences in regional laws, policies and regulations. Responsible for ensuring strategy changes for the assigned credit risk discipline are appropriately implemented in a timely manner across business units.Primary duty for each discipline is as follows:Credit Analysis & Approval/Portfolio Management: Manages team(s) of professional staff and more junior managers (domestic and/or global) responsible for completing complex analyses of industry, country and counter party credit portfolios and credit portfolio quality. Establishes the Credit Analysis & Reporting strategy for the assigned teams in alignment with the global Credit Analysis & Reporting strategy and in partnership with applicable senior leadership. Establishes relevant policies, procedures and standards for completing legal documentation of Credit Analysis & Reporting processes and structuring term sheets and deals. Ensures the accuracy of documentation produced by the team. Regularly participates in meetings with clients, other banks, multi-bank credit facilities and senior peers within the industry. Helps to improve the quality of work completed by less experienced team members and assigns tasks.Operational Credit Risk: Manages team(s) of professional staff and more junior managers (domestic and/or global) responsible for completing numerous complex credit processing and assessment activities, including credit analysis, underwriting, borrower rating approval and transaction review and approval for intraday credit. Establishes the Operational Credit Risk strategy for the assigned teams in partnership with applicable senior leadership. Sets the relevant policies, procedures, requirements and standards for approving and overseeing credit processing and assessment activities. Ensures the accuracy of credit processing and assessment activities and the work completed by professionals and more junior managers. Helps to improve the quality of work completed by less experienced team members and assigns tasks.Country Risk: Manages team(s) of professional staff and more junior managers (domestic and/or global) responsible for grading the credit quality of a large, highly complex country. Establishes the relevant strategy for accurately and effectively tracking the fiscal condition of sovereigns and developing ratings for country borrowers. Establishes the Country Risk strategy for the assigned team(s) in partnership with applicable senior leadership. Ensures the accuracy of ratings produced by less experienced professionals and more junior managers. Reviews complex country risk assessments and provides approval for their integration into portfolio management for the organization's overall credit risk. Helps to improve the quality of work completed by less experienced team members and assigns tasks.Credit Administration: Manages team(s) of professional staff and more junior managers (domestic and/or global) responsible for developing the organization's credit policy and the credit policy manual and for responding to audit inquiries. Helps to ensure the team's successful completion of credit reviews, credit submissions and other related activities and operations for various credit portfolios, and for the preparation of credit proposals, documentation and financial spreads. Establishes relevant policies and procedures for using the organization's credit systems, such as the credit risk rating system and elective audit approval system, and managing vendors. Establishes the Credit Administration strategy for the assigned team(s) in partnership with applicable senior leadership. Responsible for improving the quality of work completed by less experienced team members and assigning tasks.Community Reinvestment Act/Appraisal: Manages team(s) of professional staff and more junior managers responsible for determining the appropriate balance of investments, loan commitments and community activities to align with CRA corporate goals and for managing toward the appropriate allocation. Helps to ensure the team's accurate completion of reviews of real estate appraisals for commercial and residential properties. Establishes appraisal policies and procedures that are consistent with the Bank's risk appetite and comply with various complex regulatory requirements. Establishes the Community Reinvestment Act/Appraisal strategy for the assigned team(s) in partnership with applicable senior leadership. Helps to improve the quality of work completed by less experienced team members and assigns tasks.Directs and manages the assessment and validation of specialized control processes for the assigned credit risk discipline to ensure compliance with regionally applicable laws, rules and regulations.Contributes to the development of information management systems to identify critical current and emerging credit issues for the assigned credit discipline. Helps regional teams develop loan structures, terms and conditions, policies and practices that facilitate timely identification of customer, facility and/or portfolio credit quality to quickly remediate instances of declining asset quality. Continues to build influence among management to ensure the appropriate corporate response to these issues.May be in contact with senior regulators and government officials; appropriately escalates high impact issues raised by these contacts to management. Independently addresses issues with a moderate risk level and potential financial impact to the organization.Recruits, directs, motivates and develops professional staff and more junior managers, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team and/or lead. Provides feedback at the most critical times.Manages teams of Credit Analysis & Reporting, Operational Credit Risk, Country Risk or Credit Administration professional staff and more junior managers across multiple regions.Responsible for the achievement of goals and objectives across multiple regions. Ensures regions are equipped to operationalize and attain regional objectives. Ensures appropriate financial and human resource allocation.Modified based upon local regulations/requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor s degree in accounting, finance, economics or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. MBA, similar degree, or equivalent experience is preferred. Family Requirements: 12-15 years of total work experience, with 3-5 years of management experience, preferred. Prior experience/background in credit risk preferred. In addition, may require the following experience/skills based on primary duties: Discipline Requirements: Credit Analysis & Reporting: Formal credit training preferred. Extensive familiarity with diverse lending, work-out, operating products, attendant risk, foreclosure, bankruptcy and/or OREO assets in order to direct teams across multiple regions responsible for the completion of these tasks. Operational Credit Risk: Formal credit training preferred. Extensive familiarity with highly complex underwriting projects and rapid-turnaround, intraday funds transfers and approvals in order to direct teams across multiple regions responsible for the completion of these tasks. Country Risk: Formal credit training preferred. Extensive familiarity with borrower rating systems and tracking methodologies and fiscal and financial condition indicators in order to direct teams across multiple regions responsible for the completion of these tasks. Credit Administration: Extensive familiarity with highly complex underwriting projects and credit administration systems typically used by financial institutions in order to direct teams across multiple regions responsible for the completion of these tasks. Community Reinvestment Act/Appraisal: Formal credit training preferred. Extensive familiarity with the Community Reinvestment Act and highly complex real estate appraisals in order to manage teams across multiple regions responsible for the completion of CRA/appraisal-related tasks.
