Job Summary
Key Responsibilities: Network Management: Install, configure, and maintain the organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and wireless networks. Ensure all systems are operating efficiently and effectively. Network Security: Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems, to protect the organization's data and systems from unauthorized access or threats. Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve network issues related to connectivity, performance, and security. Provide technical support to end users for network-related problems. System Monitoring: Monitor network performance, identifying and addressing any performance issues, bottlenecks, or potential problems. Ensure minimal downtime and a reliable network environment. Software Updates and Patches: Regularly update and patch network devices, servers, and firewalls to ensure they remain secure and up-to-date. Documentation: Maintain clear and organized documentation for network configurations, system settings, and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and future troubleshooting. Backup and Recovery: Develop and manage network backup and disaster recovery plans to protect critical data. Ensure regular backups are completed successfully and can be restored as needed. Network Optimization: Analyze and optimize network performance to ensure efficient use of resources, such as bandwidth and server capacity. Vendor Management: Liaise with external vendors for hardware purchases, software licenses, and service support, ensuring the best value and quality for the organization. Collaboration: Work closely with the IT team and other departments to assess network requirements for new projects or expansions. Ensure proper integration of new systems into the network infrastructure. Compliance: Ensure the network infrastructure complies with all relevant regulations and industry standards, including data privacy and security requirements. Qualifications: Experience: 3+ years of experience in network administration or a related field. Educational Background: A bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.) and software. Proficiency with networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN. Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, Nagios). Familiarity with operating systems (Windows Server, Linux, etc.) and cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure). Knowledge of network security practices and tools. Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve network issues. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users. Attention to Detail: High attention to detail in managing configurations, network security, and system documentation. Certifications: Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are preferred. Preferred Skills: Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure). Familiarity with virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V). Knowledge of disaster recovery planning and business continuity strategies. Ability to work under pressure and handle critical issues in a fast-paced environment.
