Position Summary
The mission of the Alumni Impact team at Teach For India (TFI) is to accelerate the individual and collective impact of the 3000-strong, and growing, Alumni network towards redefining an excellent education for children across India. We intend to realize this mission through a 4-pronged strategy that will involve:
- Fellow Readiness - Ensuring our Fellows are prepared for taking up roles of their aspiration. This includes working closely with the Fellowship program design and implementation teams, understanding what our Alumni and Alumni employers are looking for, and using the insights from these sources to recommend program design related changes/reinforcements
- Infusing Talent - Infusing talent (graduating Fellows and current Alumni) into identified areas (e.g. - in and around school systems, organizations, governments at multiple levels) that we believe will deliver the most impact for the education system of the country.
- Incubate Alumni - Incubating/Supporting Alumni to enter key roles or launch new organizations within prioritized puzzle pieces, particularly where barriers to entry are high but the potential for impact is large
- Connect and Build Leadership - Fostering online and offline connections among our Alumni with the objectives of nurturing a sense of community & pride, and enabling them to access opportunities for their leadership and growth
The Manager, Alumni Impact, will lead to this challenging and inspiring mission in the city. You will manage a team of 0-2 individuals to achieve these outcomes while reporting to the City Director, Mumbai.
Team Overview
The Mumbai city operations team has an exciting and challenging role of driving the Teach For Indiavision and mission. This involves training and supporting Fellows to have an impact in their classrooms,schools, and communities, to have an impact on themselves and to prepare Fellows for their postFellowship journey. The team works with various stakeholders in the city of Mumbai like our Alumni,Government, corporates, foundations, NGOs to drive our vision. Mumbai will be entering into its seventh year of operation in 2016 17; we will have ~220 Fellows, ~23 city operations team members and ~320 Alumni working in the city.

Responsibilities
- Envision proof points for the Alumni movement in the city, and co-create a regional strategy that will take us there, in partnership with the City Director & local Alumni
- Collaborate with the Program team to develop & implement an integrated plan for Fellow readiness, factoring key milestones such as Mid-year retreat, internships, BTCP, career fair etc.
- Support Fellows gain clarity on their options post the Fellowship by exposing them to prioritised puzzle pieces, functional areas and opportunities within the education sector across these
- Engage with organizations that serve children from economically weaker section (EWS) in the region, by providing opportunities for them to interact with and hire from our Fellows & Alumni
- Provide necessary network & programmatic support for Fellows (& Alumni) who are leading Be The Change Projects (BTCPs) to further their projects continuously, so that:
- they strengthen their transferability of skills & competencies
- select BTCPs become ready to apply to incubation programs like InnovatED
- Involve Alumni in our Fellow ecosystem of support such as trainings, conferences, Learning circles, newsletters, development conversations etc. and also in our recruitment & partnership efforts
- Consistently coordinate regional physical platforms where people from the TFI community & beyond, can network, self-organize workshops, co-create collaborative projects, anchor communities of practice that develop peoples capacities
- Facilitate the adoption and engagement of our regional Alumni on TFI Connect, our online platform to connect TFI Alumni around the world
- Maintain an updated Alumni database which tells us where our Alumni are, the roles they play & the health of their community. Leverage this information to amplify the voice of our Alumni and their stories of individual & collective impact
Additional Responsibilities
- Track & report city-level data across Alumni team projects periodically with National teams
- Document, organize & share tools, resources used for execution of Alumni team projects and contribute to the collective of City Alumni Leads across other cities
- Based on need, interest and capabilities
- Support other organizational priorities like Fellowship Recruitment, Selection, Matriculation, Summer Institute etc.

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
- Graduate/Post-Graduate in any discipline with 3-5 years of work experience
- Teach for India Fellowship experience (any city)
- Knowledge of networks and movements for social change
- Proficiency in using data to drive decisions: the ability to identify metrics, analyze quantitative and qualitative evidence to generate trends and hypotheses
- Strong project planning and project management skills
- Excellent strategic thinking skills so as to conceptualize multiple approaches to solving a problem or achieving a vision
- Excellent communication skills so as to deliver a compelling message and tell powerful stories to diverse stakeholders
- Excellent relationship-building so as to foster networks and communities among individuals and groups
