Job Purpose: Seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent project management background combined and understanding of drug discovery value chain in biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. This is a client-facing role that will support projects in discovery biology at Syngene and manage a portfolio of projects and operations for a group within Discovery Biology.
Key Responsibilities:
Apply Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) principles and methodologies to drive all five levers of project management for moderate to complex projects and programs to ensure project delivery on budget, time and quality and excellent customer experience
Manage a portfolio of projects, programs and operations pertaining to a sub-group of the Discovery Biology business unit- monitor and report portfolio health and performance, manage MIS and enterprise-level revenue risk management for the portfolio
Manage client-based portfolios as a single-point contact to established partnership, manage expectations, monitor and report portfolio health and enhance customer experience
Manage end-to-end cross-functional project operations and multi-disciplinary activities to ensure that project deliverables are met, with minimal supervision
Create and manage dashboards from existing enterprise management database
Independently work with the Project Leader and broader scientific team to develop detailed project plans, budget and task management log, to achieve project objectives
Responsible for cross-functional implementation and delivery of the project plan
As appropriate, negotiate and manage external resources including clients, consultants, investigators, services and contractors
Participate in project plan/study or protocol design and strategy
Participate in pre-project award activities viz. Request for X (RFX) and/or review of project contracts
Provide regular, structured updates to the Manager, business unit head, project leader and team
Maintain project team issue log and risk log with mitigation and contingency actions
Plan, assign and track project plan with respect to resource, schedule and budget
Manage, document and negotiate change control
Lead scheduling of team meetings and preparation of project team agendas and minutes
Develop and ensuring project governance and communication matrix
Identify and manage (with the project leader) all project related issues, to ensure prompt resolution and to avoid negative impact on budget or schedule
Proactively identify project risks and propose risk mitigation strategies
Identify and ensure all documentation are in compliance with regulatory requirements and appropriately assembled and archived
Use Microsoft-projects efficiently and proficiently to manage project plans and documents
Monitor and report project productivity and profitability
Follow environment, health, and safety (EHS) requirements at all times in the workplace ensuring individual and lab/plant safety
Ensure environment, health, and safety (EHS) measures are imparted via training and adhered within the team
Educational Qualification:
Masters in life sciences with background in biotechnology/ biology/ pharma or related disciplines
CAPM/ PMP certified or degree in business management
Technical/functional Skills:
Should possess the ability to influence and work with matrix cross-functional teams with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, budget and quality.
Ability to multi-task and independently handle cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders
Strong understanding of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) principles and application of PMBOK methodologies, tools & techniques
Excellent presentation and analytical skills, effectively using Microsoft office tools
Working knowledge and proficiency in MS-projects essential
Knowledge of SAP project management modules desired
Possess the knowledge and exposure to environment, health, and safety (EHS) practices
Experience:
9-12 years of total experience in biotechnology/pharmaceutical/Contract Research Organization industry, of which:
3-9 years experience in core project management, and,
3-6 years of scientific experience and domain knowledge in drug discovery (biology, DMPK, toxicology)
Behavioral Skills:
Should have excellent communication and organization skills with the ability to manage the changing client and CRO environment.
