Provide a technical leadership role as QCLDM champion for suppliers andassure technical development to adequately meet product source plans.Support Product Sourcing Strategy and provide technical leadership in newsupplierion. Evaluate and develop new supplier''s technologicalcapability to meet required Caterpillar design, quality, and materialspecifications.Provide leadership in resolution of quality problems associated with thepurchased materials, and logistics and engineering issues. RepresentsGlobal Purchasing in outsourcing solutions with the Business Unit. Maintainthe highest ethical and professional standards within this diverse globalorganization.Supports and participates in 6 Sigma initiatives with facilities, categoryteams, and suppliers. The incumbent will collaborate with Buyers to improvesupplier cost, quality, and throughput.Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of technological developments andtrends for guidance of commodity teams in advancements of design, quality,and manufacturing. Must have a thorough working knowledge of qualityinitiatives to ensure that Product Part Approval Process(PPAP) arecompleted and approved before new parts are delivered. This includesleadership in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activity.The position manages the completion of its own work assignments andcoordinates work with others.Participate in the development of Supplier metrics and the monthlygathering and distribution of measurements. Resolve problems betweensupplier and plants, suppliers and engineering personnel, and betweenfacilities.Coordinate with engineering personnel on matters regarding ConcurrentProduct and Process Development (CPPD), New Product Introduction (NPI),Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) teams; prove design to production,engineering changes, deviations, supplier designs, specification approvals,and meeting cost reduction goals.Will lead the design and processing of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis(FMEA).The position manages the completion of its own work assignments andcoordinates work with others.This position typically does not have any direct reports. Some travel isrequired.
Minimum Requirements
The position requires a bachelor''s degree in Electrical and Electronicsengineering - or equivalent experience, preferably in engineering. Inaddition, three to five years of job-related experience , in Engineering ormanufacturing or Supplier development , specifically in the electrical andelectronics products manufacturing industry . ( Example : AC Generators /Control Panels / Dash Board equipments / Switch gears etc .Should have a sound knowledge in APQP / PPAP processesGood human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative workingrelationship with others inside and outside .Solid ability to use and demonstrate statistical and problem solving toolsis required.Tools and Techniques of 6 Sigma methodology are requirements and will beattained through completion of Green Belt training and/or prior 6 Sigmaexperience.We are looking for a person with Electrical and elctronics engineering degreeand have typical industry experience ( example : genset manaufacturingfacility )we are specifically looking for BE in Electrical andElectronics as they will deal with commodity buying in those areas.Further we are looking at Alternator Manufacturers , OEMs dealing inControl Panel, Diesel engine dealers/manufacturers, Automotive Electricalmajors.
