Job Summary
Job Title: Sales Head India
Reports to: Vice President-Sales and Marketing
A BASIC FUNCTION:
Assist the VP to build and expand a sales and marketing program that will increase the sales and profitability of company s' specialized lubricants in India. The Sales head will also be responsible for building and managing a distribution network in India. The Sales head will be responsible for all distributors in India. The Sales head must meet or exceed the profit plan goals for each business year while keeping budgeted expenses under or at plan.
B JOB DUTIES:
1. Assist the VP in the design and implementation of a sales and marketing program wherein it will enable company to expand its sales of specialized lubricants throughout India.
2. Assist in establishing a distribution network throughout India in strategic locations that are most favorable to our business model:
A. Identify proper markets.
B. Identify potential distributors for those markets.
C. Interview potential distributors. Must review with them their short and mid-term business plans. Make sure their goals and objectives are compatible with ours.
D. Review their financial strength.
E. Review all distributor qualifications with the VP and have the VP sign them up in accordance with a properly prepared distributor agreement as provided by our corporate attorney.
F. Must constantly assess the effectiveness of Company s Distributors within their region of responsibility. In areas where they are strong, continue to provide sales and technical support. In areas where they are weak, either strengthen or recommend to the VP that we source an alternative outlet.
3. Train and travel with distributor management and distributor sales personnel.
4. Properly manage and motivate the Distributors and their personnel. This includes setting goals and objectives and reviewing them on a monthly or quarterly basis and holding them accountable for growing the business.
5. Continue to work closely with, and make sales calls with, existing distributors and end-use customers.
6. Must make sales calls on decision-makers throughout any province where we are soliciting and serving new and existing business.
7. Continue to educate and inform company personnel in regards to existing competitive products as well as development of new products that have a fit in our product line.
8. Work closely with the VP in establishing clear goals and objectives that address sales growth and profitability.
9. Work closely with management in establishing yearly laboratory programs that are germane to maintaining and growing the international mining business.
10. Submit, on a timely basis, weekly reports to the VP outlining all pertinent activities.
11. Help with Distributor meetings.
12. Be responsible for written communication and follow-up with new and existing distributors.
13. Become thoroughly familiar with all aspects of Company s technical service programs. Work closely with Company s technical service representatives and be able to perform said duties, inspections, and reporting, if need be.
14. Incorporate and embrace all aspects of the ISO 9001:2000 program.
15.Perform additional duties as assigned by the VP.
16. Hire and train new sales personnel as needed.
17. Mentor less experienced co-workers to improve their knowledge and effectiveness.
18. Conduct timely annual reviews of all personnel reporting to this position.
19. Must work closely with all appropriate OEM s obtaining endorsements and approvals, as necessary.
C JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
1). EDUCATION
Four-year college degree in Mechanical/Chemical/Industrial discipline and/or a business or marketing degree. In lieu of the above, a person with 10 plus years of managerial experience in an industrial sales and marketing organization will be considered.
2). EXPERIENCE
1. Must have a minimum of 10 years sales experience in the Mining, Cement, Steel, Power and Wind industry.
2. Must have an understanding and good working relationship with the Mining, Cement, Steel, Power and Wind industry.
3. Must have a clear understanding of the working relationship between the manufacturer, distributor, technical service personnel, sales personnel, and end-users.
4. Must have a proven ability to open doors and close sales.
3). SKILLS
1). Self-motivated
2). Outstanding verbal and written skills are required regarding:
A). The industry
B). Company s product line
C). The ability to communicate at all levels of management internally and externally, including the distributors and end-users
D). Must have outstanding written communications with the ability to analyze problems and their opportunities and commit them into understandable written reports, letters, proposals, forecasts and memos
E). Must have good computer skills with Microsoft Office experience
4). PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be willing to travel 60 percent of the time, have a high energy level and be willing to function in extreme conditions imposed upon the individual.
This individual will be making sales calls throughout all of India and as such must be willing and able to operate effectively in adverse conditions and multiple time zones
This position also entails significant hands-on operation incorporating infrared thermometer, stroboscope, and visual inspections, an ability to identify potential problems through audible and/or sensory indicators is an added advantage. Working conditions will invariably be dusty and dirty.
5. LOCATION:
Initially will be based out of Bangalore. Liable to be shifted to other location in the future depending on the business requirement.
