Job Overview Primary Responsibilities: - Finalize tax computations, prepare income returns, TDS returns, and ensure GST compliance. - Manage tax assessments, transfer pricing assessments, and appeals. - Oversee compliance related to all direct, international, and indirect taxes. - Handle transfer pricing agreements, advance pricing agreements (APA), and advance ruling (AAR). - Ensure tax compliance for group entities. - Support sub-region entities in tax compliance and group reporting. - Advise the business on the applicability of taxes on various transactions. - Lead a team, including qualified Chartered Accountants (CAs). - Understand tax regulations in sub-region countries such as Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Specific Responsibilities: Direct and International Taxation: - Ensure timely and accurate group reporting for tax accounting. - Comply with corporate tax and TDS returns, making tax payments within deadlines. - Handle tax assessments and transfer pricing assessments for SGS India and its group entities. - Advise on foreign withholding tax (WHT) implications for international transactions to minimize business losses. - Counsel management on complex tax matters related to mergers and demergers. - Oversee foreign WHT compliance for group entities. - Ensure compliance with 15CA-CB and maintain relevant tax documents for future assessments. - Guarantee compliance with master filing and Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR) for SGS India and its group entities. - Ensure tax compliance for expatriates in India and support HR with salary taxation. - Prepare quarterly income computations for advance tax and dividend payouts. - Compile details for income tax scrutiny and appellate proceedings before the CIT(A) and ITAT. - Stay updated on recent economic and tax developments, including international taxation (OECD). Indirect Taxes: - Ensure timely compliance with GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, and GSTR-9C. - Actively participate in tax matters affecting the industry. - Minimize GST input tax credit (ITC) losses through monthly reconciliations and identification of tax leakage. - Understand the business model and navigate its tax implications in a compliant manner. General: - Facilitate smooth statutory, tax, group, and internal audits without adverse remarks. - Respond to all tax notices within prescribed timelines. - Understand ERP systems and necessary changes due to tax law updates. - Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) and internal checks for tax compliance, maintaining sufficient records for future reference. - Manage tax risk by identifying areas for potential tax savings. - Record accounting entries to ensure GL balances align with the current tax position. - Regularly update tax risk management files and databases for open litigation. - Adhere to the SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct at all times. Qualifications - Background in commerce with a strong understanding of the Income Tax Act and international taxation. - Minimum qualification: Chartered Accountant (CA). - Working knowledge of FEMA, the Companies Act, Ind AS, and IFRS. - 12-15 years of experience in taxation, with proficiency in Oracle/SAP. - Proficient in Word, Outlook, and Excel.
