Job Summary Job Description

  • You are primarily responsible for the proper & smooth functioning of your wards & maintaining discipline.
  • You should ensure adequate no. of staff (Tech. /non technical) working in your department.
  • Adhere to the duty roster & in case, of any mutual adjustment, you inform the designated authority.
  • You have to ensure safe & proper biomedical waste handling & Disposal
  • You have to ensure clean & hygienic environment for all patients admitted in your ward. Any Burn case, Pediatric case, infective case should be isolated, if feasible.
  • Audit the drugs & consumable stock randomly check for expiries. Dangerous drugs should be stored separately & should be Red Marked.

  • Ensure the availability of all required forms & formats in your department for all shifts.
  • You are responsible to check if any patient or his/her attendants have any complaint or are dissatisfied. Try to solve the matter.
  • Documentation

  • You are responsible to maintain a proper hand-over take-over register. Over should be written after each shift & should be given bed side.
  • Prepare all the planned Discharge Summaries in night duties & urgent discharge referrals immediately.
  • You are responsible to revise all the treatment charts in night duties for next day orders. Or any time if the treatment schedule is changed.
  • You are responsible to note down properly the consent forms in case of any procedure/surgery, Blood transfusion, investigative procedure is done. Consent by the patient is must. A signature of witness (Ist order relative of the patient) is also must. The consent should, carry the diagnosis & name of procedure done. In case of unconscious patient or minor two Ist order relatives should give the consent.
  • You are responsible to document the procedure notes if in case any procedure is carried out.
  • You are responsible to document daily progress notes on each file after taking ward rounds.
  • You are responsible to document the treatment orders/investigations/any other orders put by the consultant after rounds.
  • You are responsible to document the Case summaries if it is demanded by the attendants of any patient.
  • You are responsible to document the Transfer summary/shifting notes, if your patient is being shifted to another department ICU/LR/ Recovery/OT etc.) mentioning the present status of patient, vitals, cause of shifting.
  • You are responsible to document all the investigations done, date wise in each case file everyday & in each shift on the Investigation Chart.
