Tower Research Capital, a high-frequency proprietary trading firm founded in 1998, seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Enterprise Team.

The Enterprise Technology division is responsible for delivering high-quality IT products for Tower s global employee population via core infrastructure, automation, security, and cloud-based services.

As a Senior Software Engineer you will be an integral member of the Observability Engineering team whose responsibility includes prototyping, designing, developing and supporting highly scalable monitoring, logging, alerting and data analytics platform based on open source solutions.

Responsibilities

Be a part of a team of Software Engineers and DevOps Engineers with a vision of achieving truly scalable monitoring, logging, alerting and data analytics platforms.

  • Co-develop next-generation data streaming, transformation and analytics platform using open source technologies.
  • Communicate effectively with the DevOps managers on release milestones, sprints and roadmap activities with respect to Observability Engineering.
  • Develop and manage monitoring, alerting, logging platform to help SRE and Operations teams to quickly pinpoint, isolate and resolve issues related to infrastructure, platform services and applications.
  • Develop and maintain automation tools for Infrastructure automation, container orchestration and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Design, write and deliver software to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Observability platform.
  • Follow best practices about scale, performance, geo-distribution, multi-cloud, code maintenance, documentation etc.
  • Establish credibility with the quality of your own and your team's technical execution.
  • Support on-call rotations for the team

    • Qualifications

  • 5 - 7 years of SRE / DevOps experience in architecting, designing and developing complex distributed systems.
  • Strong knowledge of deploying and managing ELK stack in private cloud / public cloud environments.
  • Strong understanding of distributed Kafka deployments for batch-processed / continuous data stream.
  • Strong knowledge of maintaining a large scale PaaS environment using Kubernetes, preferably using Helm charts.
  • Hands-on experience with deployment and configuration of Prometheus, with federated setups using Thanos, Cortex or M3DB.
  • Prior experience with deploying applications (VMs or containers) in public Clouds like GCP and AWS.
  • Experience with Data warehousing and data lake creation using an open-source framework.
  • RESTful API's consumed by internal and external applications.
  • Hands-on Experience with Big Data Technologies like Spark, Hadoop or Hive a big plus.
  • Knowledge of JVM concepts like garbage collection, heap, stack, profiling, class loading, etc.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Golang and Java including object-oriented design, prototyping, development, testing, profiling, etc.

    • Cloud Platforms:GCP, AWS.

    Technology Stack:ElasticSearch,Prometheus,Kafka,Kubernetes, VMWare,Salt/ Ansible / Chef / Puppet.Helm, Consul, Vault, Apache Beam, Jenkins,Gitlab

    Databases:MYSQL,Cassandra, Postgres, MongoDB,GCS, AWS S3

    Virtualization:Kubernetes, VMWare or Openstack.

    Big Data & Analytics:Spark, Hadoop, Hive,BigQuery
