Sr. Principal Sqa Engineer (platform+dataplane) - Netsec Job in Palo Alto Networks

We are looking for a Sr. Principal SQA Engineer to join our SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) group. As part of the SD-WAN team, you will play a critical role in validating core networking and security features. The role involves collaborating with a talented team to solve complex problems and create groundbreaking technologies in the SD-WAN domain.

Your Impact:

• Testing Methodologies: Design and execute test plans to validate platform aspects, from hardware components to network layers (L1-L7).
• Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams (Product Managers, Engineering, Support, and Operations) to ensure high-quality, timely product deliveries.
• Influence Product Development: Review Product Requirement Documents and Functional Specifications to ensure consistency and technical accuracy.
• Automation: Use Python to automate test cases and improve test efficiency and coverage for new platforms.
• Continuous Improvement: Strive to enhance speed, efficiency, and quality in all aspects of development and testing.
• Mentorship: Guide junior engineers and drive best practices across the team.
• Culture: Promote a culture of respect, integrity, diversity, and collaboration within and outside the team.

Your Experience:

• Experience: 16+ years in testing SD-WAN, Routers, Switches, and Firewalls, with expertise in platform software and L2/L3 testing.
• Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with Linux-based operating systems, traffic generation tools like Spirent, Ixia, BreakingPoint, and packet analysis tools (tcpdump, Wireshark, etc.).
• Proficiency in Python: Strong programming skills in Python are highly desired.
• Network Protocols: Expertise in TCP/IP, ARP, IP, ICMP, TCP, UDP, IPSec VPNs, and enterprise routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
• Networking Features: Experience with Multicast, IPv6, DNS, NAT, DHCP.
• Performance Testing: Experience with performance and scale characterization of networking products.
• Leadership: Proven track record in project leadership and successfully delivering high-quality products.
• Virtualization: Familiarity with VMware ESXi, qemu/kvm, and Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Testbed Design: Experience in building and maintaining complex networking testbeds.
