Job Summary Job Title: AFCS Expert/ Technical Specialist -AFCS Organization Name: NEC Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. Reporting Relationship: BU Head Job Summary We are seeking an experienced AFCS Expert to join our Public Transportation Services team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, management, and optimization of fare collection systems for our bus and metro services. This role requires deep expertise in AFCS technology, project management skills, and a strong understanding of public transportation operations. Roles and Responsibilities System Design and Integration: - The Senior AFC Expert is responsible for designing the automatic fare collection system according to the project requirements and integrating it with other relevant systems within the metro infrastructure, such as ticketing, access control, and passenger information systems. Vendor Management: - Oversee the selection of AFC system vendors, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships throughout the project lifecycle. - This includes ensuring that vendors deliver products and services according to agreed-upon timelines and quality standards. Technical Expertise:- Possess deep technical knowledge of automatic fare collection technologies, including contactless smart cards, RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification), barcode scanning, biometric authentication, and mobile payment systems. Project Planning and Execution:- Work closely with other project stakeholders, such as engineers, architects, and project managers, to ensure that AFC system implementation aligns with overall project timelines and objectives. Quality Assurance and Testing:- Oversee the testing and quality assurance processes for the AFC system to ensure that it functions reliably and meets performance standards. Training and Support:- Provide training and support to metro staff and operators on how to use and maintain the AFC system effectively. - Develop training materials, conduct training sessions, and provide ongoing technical support as needed. Risk Management:- Identify potential risks and challenges related to AFC system implementation and develop strategies to mitigate these risks. Requirements and skills Total experience of working in the fare collection domain for 12 years + Experience in execution of projects metro and bus segments Team handling capacity Can work as an individual contributor Experience of system and architecture design Handling vendor ecosystem Specialization Description General Information Technology work involves managing or performing work across multiple areas of an organization s overall IT Platform/Infrastructure including analysis, development, and administration of: IT Systems Software, Hardware, and Databases Data & Voice Networks Data Processing Operations End User Technology & Software Support Conducts cost/benefit analyses for proposed IT projects as input to the organization s IT roadmap.Specialization Match Note: Incumbents matching to this specialization are typically found in organizations with smaller/less complex IT Functions and perform work related to all areas of their organization s IT Platform/Infrastructure.
