Job Description Data Integration Mainframe developer

Job Summary
This role requires someone with a broad technical knowledge and good set of communication skills and an analytical mind. The individual is responsible for build & support in the data warehouse, he must be able to communicate goals and instructions in a clear and efficient manner. The individual will work with the business team to understand the business need and how the current code correlates to the same, document the system and to-be status of what would be needed for the system to be rearchitected. The individual will trace and document data system logic and flows by reading and analysing JCL, COBOL programs, control cards and other common mainframe data manipulation processes.
The developer is also responsible for developing, configuring, tuning or modifying complex integrated business and/or enterprise application solutions within various computing environments facilitating the implementation and maintenance of complex business and enterprise software solutions to ensure successful deployment of released applications. The developer supports systems integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT) and participates in all software development lifecycle phases.

Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor s Degree or comparable job-related experience
2-4 years of full life-cycle experience
Proficient in DI Build life cycle comprising of Requirement gathering, Analysis, Development, Design, Documentation, Test and Deploy
Proven experience in programming techniques, programming languages in the mainframe environment.
Strong technical knowledge on Mainframe technologies and hands on experience in COBOL programming, JCL, Endevor, Zeke.
Strong analytical skill to analyze code, understand business rules and trace and document data flows by reading and analyzing JCL and COBOL programs.
Working experience in DB2 SQL and Teradata utilities
Experience with moving data to and from Mainframe DB2 sources
Experience with Business Intelligence/Data warehousing tools and skills including data management, SQL, ETL and OLAP concepts
Strong communication and analytical skills

Required Skills
Strong hands on experience in COBOL programming, JCL
Working knowledge of VSAM, IBM File Manager, File- Aid
Working experience with Zeke scheduler
Strong knowledge in SQL, Unix programming
Knowledge of Hadoop, HDFS and scripting languages like Java, Python, Scala is highly desired.
Experience with Message queues, Kafka, Airflow is added advantage
Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills
Good aptitude in multi-threading and concurrency concepts
Willing to learn new tools and technologies

Core Responsibilities
Modernize mainframe applications
Analyse, trace, extract and document business rules embedded in Mainframe programs, third-party utilities, and other data manipulation products and produce detailed program and JCL specifications
Understanding current Mainframe solutions including COBOL, JCL, complex DB2 and Teradata SQL s, programs and flows and work with the users and business teams to correlate the same with how the systems support the current business
Responsible for the management of all aspects of data covering a scope that spans the full information management lifecycle from data acquisition, data cleansing, transformation, classify and storage to presentation, distribution, security, privacy and archiving
Design, document, performance tune and coordinate desired changes to legacy modules
Analyse, document current job schedules in Zeke and their dependencies
Test case reviews and ensure code developed meets the requirements
Analyse and estimate feasibility and compatibility with other programs and projects
Work proactively, independently and across teams to address project requirements, and articulate issues/challenges with enough lead time to address project delivery risks
Providing expertise in technical analysis of mainframe jobs and working closely with team members to transform to new tech stack
