The Opportunity

As a Forward Deployed AI Engineer on our newly established Field Engineering team, you will work directly with enterprise customers on high-impact AI-driven projects. This role blends technical expertise with strategic influence, enabling businesses to modernize legacy systems, accelerate cloud adoption, and integrate Generative AI solutions. Your contributions will also help shape MongoDB s product roadmap and ecosystem.

What You ll Do

• Collaborate with enterprise clients to modernize applications, optimize performance, and unlock AI-driven insights using MongoDB.
• Develop and implement AI-powered tools and applications, leveraging state-of-the-art Generative AI technologies.
• Prototype and build scalable, resilient solutions that drive efficiency and innovation for customers.
• Work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and field teams to identify opportunities and influence MongoDB s AI strategy.
• Provide technical guidance and best practices for monolithic-to-microservices migrations and cloud adoption.

What We re Looking For

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, delivering impactful enterprise solutions.
• Expertise in Java, SQL, Python, and experience with test-driven development methodologies.
• Advanced degree (Master s/PhD) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Network Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of AI/ML concepts, open-source AI tools, and cloud-based architectures.
• Experience designing and implementing AI-powered applications is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with monolithic vs. microservices architectures, including migration complexities.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to tackle complex, un-Googleable challenges.
• Preferred: Academic research experience in AI/ML, parsing, or programming languages.
