Technical Skills Requirements
8+ years of experience in engineering and administration of large UNIX environments (AIX 6/ 7) required. (HIGH)
Extensive "hands-on" infrastructure technology experience with focus on Systems Engineering, problem determination and resolution on Power6/7/8 hardware. (HIGH)
Install, configure and administer IBM Power Systems, Virtual Input/Output (VIO) Servers using the Advanced Power Virtualization/PowerVM. (HIGH)
Complete understanding of the AIX Network Installation Manager (NIM) package, configuration of various NIM resources and the ability to troubleshoot NIM-related issues. (HIGH)
A deep understanding of Unix concepts to include performance considerations of each subsystem
Engineer solutions for deployment, performance management, and maintenance of AIX based systems with an emphasis on quality of design that is efficient, usable, maintainable, and extensible (LOW)
Assist with designing, configuring, and maintaining the Power 6 and 7 virtualization platform.
Monitor/Maintain/Troubleshoot mixed HMC environments including physical LPARs and virtual MPARs. (HIGH)
Plan and coordinate the installation, testing, and maintenance of AIX systems software and related hardware.
Plan and execute AIX projects within approved timelines.
Perform tasks to virtualize and migrate existing physical IBM servers. (LOW)
Develop strategy and plans for and perform tasks to migrate and decommission older physical servers that have been centralized on the new Power server platform. (LOW)
Assist with developing strategy, schedule, and work breakdown structures for migrating data storage and backup processes. (LOW)
Good scripting skills in one or more language environment (Perl, Python, Ruby, etc.).
Solid grasp of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
Configure and tune system and network parameters for optimum performance. (LOW)
Monitor system stability and performance. (HIGH)
Education/Experience/Knowledge
Bachelor s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience
8+ years as AIX and Linux/Unix administrator (HIGH)
4+ years in supporting critical applications / services independently
Basic understanding of SAN and NAS storage network
ITIL, AIX or RHEL (Certification preferred)
In depth understanding of enterprise networking, LAN/WAN environments
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. (HIGH)
Strong team player collaborates well with others in multiple time zones; ability to share knowledge with team members
Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize own work
