Job Summary
Job Description 1. Hardware & Networking
a. Isolate failed or non-performing device through error codes
b. Identify the model of the server
c. Communicate with the OEM / service provider for right spares / unit replacement.
d. Configure NIC card including IP
e. Check NW performance by logging into task manager / command line
2. OS Administration
a. Isolate the issue (to specific failed unit / service)
b. Rebuild Raid, with guidance
c. Drive / filesystem management
d. Deploy patches,
e. Carry out hardening using SOPs
f. Configure performance parameters.
g. Install and configure File and Print services
h. Provide File and folder permission
i. Deploy gold images on multiple servers
3. Clustering
a. Failover and fall back of resource group between cluster nodes
b. Monitor quorum / witness disk and check the logs for errors and status
c. Configure cluster resources highly available, identify Single point of failures
d. Configure Service IP (cluster IP ) address
e. Configure shared resources such as shared disk, redundatnt network and network interfaces, ether channelling or teaming
4. Virtualization
a. Perform patching at host level
b. Create and revert snapshot
c. Check datastore space usage/utilization
d. Connect to host
5. Backup and Disaster Recovery
a. Setup and Configuration of native backups
b. Fire native backups, basic troubleshooting of native backups, volume/volume shadow copy or volume clone.
6. Storage
a. Identify the type of storage attached to servers,
b. Work with multipathing commands
c. Extend disk, work with partion table, disk scanning, inodes, superblock fixing (fsck), Network Distributed Filesystem (such as DFS, CIFS, NFS, Network Shares and their permissions), ISCSI connected disks over network.
7. Unix User Management
a. Reset root password, Password expiration & Manage SUDO
b. Creating SSH keys for secure connect
c. Check existing NFS Shares
d. Start and stop shares
e. Grant role and route based access
f. User management - UNIX user configuration files
g. Check, understand & manage existing NFS shares
h. Provide access to NFS shares using role and route based access. Technical Skills:
