Your role as a Supplier Development Engineer will be to support the Sourcing team by increasing the supplier network across the globe to meet our customer needs. You will provide support to our Suppliers along with the quality team considering all the quality requirements and would be responsible for assessing them as per the SOPs.
In this role, you ll be using your strong network, leveraging your manufacturing process knowledge and structured problem-solving skills, to find the best in class suppliers who can help Karkhana.io scale globally.
The role is very hands-on, with regular travel to find new suppliers is required. Additionally, you will maintain contact between visits using remote working practices such as virtual audits.
Responsibilities:
- Manage 100% onboarding of new suppliers in collaboration with Karkhana.io s Sourcing Team.
- Work with sourcing & manufacturing engineers and other internal stakeholders with respect to understanding the manufacturing requirements to find new suppliers.
- You will ensure that prospective suppliers are effectively assessed for their ability to dependably deliver quality parts, on time to the customer s needs.
- Development of existing Suppliers responsible for the following areas of development
- Establishing processes to meet customer-specific requirements
- Publish supplier scorecards with the help of the Sourcing team and plan improvement activities accordingly.
- Non-conformance resolution with suppliers coach suppliers for root cause analysis, and the execution of robust corrective and preventive actions
- Continuous improvement in addition to the activities with individual suppliers, you will:
- Collaborate with the Sourcing team to strengthen the network of Suppliers, including disseminating best practices
- Benchmark best practices and leverage lessons learned in multiple projects with Karkhana.io s customers
- Develop a roadmap for the development of new & existing suppliers to achieve best in class quality.
- Create non-conformity reports when issues are discovered and jointly work for correction and corrective action till the closure of the same.
- Handle supplier audits and monitor their activities.
- Required knowledge of Risk Management/Design for Manufacturing (DfM)/Lean Methodologies/5-Why/Problem Solving techniques.
- Develop and manage strong strategic relationships with our key suppliers and business partners to reduce cost and compress project lifecycles.
- Responsible for making SOPs, monthly & yearly MIS.
- Knowledge management, documentation of case studies and knowledge transfer.
- Accountable for data management, reporting & analysis.
- Participate in all project reviews and meetings related to supplier management issues.
- To do timely visits (50 - 70 % roughly travel per month) to the facilities of the Suppliers across India.
- Identification of issues and required escalation to solve on priority

Eligibility:
- Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical/Production/Plastics/Automotive/Aerospace Engineering with minimum 5+ years of industry experience in the similar profile for Machining, Sheet Metal, Casting & Forging, Injection Moulding, 3D Printing, Vaccum Casting etc. or related industry.
- Basic technical knowledge of engineering design, experience with CAD software (AutoCAD - Mandatory, CATIA & Solidworks would be an added advantage).
- Six-Sigma Certification (Yellow or Green Belt)
- Experience in managing projects, working with multiple suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery
- Comfortably work through ambiguity
- Location: Mumbai/ Bangalore (Ready to relocate as per the business requirement)
- Immediate joining or Max notice period of 1 month with an option of a buyout
