Responsibilities:
Sourcing and Vendor Management: Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors for various construction materials, equipment, and services. Develop and maintain strong relationships to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of high-quality goods and services.
Material Planning: Collaborate with project managers and site engineers to determine the materials and equipment needed for upcoming projects. Plan procurement activities to align with project timelines and requirements.
Request for Quotations (RFQs): Prepare RFQs and solicit competitive bids from suppliers and vendors. Analyze quotations to determine the best value proposition considering factors such as price, quality, and delivery timelines.
Negotiation: Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers and vendors, aiming to secure favorable pricing, payment terms, and contractual agreements.
Purchase Order Processing: Create purchase orders based on approved requisitions and negotiated terms. Ensure accuracy in terms of quantities, specifications, and delivery details.
Supplier Relationship Management: Establish and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, addressing any concerns, issues, or performance discrepancies proactively.
Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and consumption patterns to optimize stock levels and minimize excess inventory. Coordinate with warehouse and project teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
Quality Assurance: Ensure that all procured materials and equipment meet the required quality standards and specifications. Conduct quality checks and inspections as needed.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records, including purchase orders, invoices, contracts, and correspondence with suppliers.
Cost Control: Assist in monitoring project costs related to procurement. Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies to manage expenses effectively.
Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, new products, and innovative procurement practices. Use market insights to drive continuous improvement in procurement processes.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and suppliers.
- Familiarity with procurement processes, including RFQs, negotiations, and vendor management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using procurement software and MS Office applications.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
