Global Service Centres

Our Global Service Centres are an integral part of Global Operations. Employees based there manage day-to-day customer transactions and processes for the global businesses. This may include transactions for our retail bank such as processing loans, credit cards, insurance and mortgage applications, opening new accounts, and managing customer enquiries through contact centres and digital platforms.

Employees in the Global Service Centres also run and manage operations for commercial bank customers. This includes processing credit applications, facilitating payments and managing the import and export transactions that enable customers to protect and grow their businesses through international trade.


  • Role Purpose (overall high level summary of the role)

As per Finance offshoring plans, GFC has ~ 37% of Finance headcount across five locations NCR, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Krakow. Core processes at GFOC include maintaining and closing the ledger & other balance sheet reconciliations, Management Information, Finance systems management, Financial, Regulatory, and Liquidity Reporting.

This role is a senior position in Global Finance Centre (GFOC) accountable and responsible for managing and strengthening the Risk and Control Environment in GFOC. Individual will be a part of first line of defense and responsible for regular process monitoring and governance through RCAs, management reviews, Controls testing including SOX controls, Management Self-identified issues (MSII) and providing inputs for risk committee meetings. The role also involves close interaction with external/internal auditors, ORIC.

The overall objective is to create an environment where there are minimum or no surprises, enhanced awareness amongst employees, timely escalations, and strict monitoring.

The roles critical success factors include managing relations within GFOC and the larger HSBC Finance community; ability to work across teams/ sites/ time zones; influencing business outcomes.

Principal Accountabilities: Key activities and decision making areas

Risk Management & Operational Effectiveness

  • Individually accountable for managing the risk environment of a sub function across locations where GFOC operates

  • Act as a face of the controls team and provide adequate support to operations in identification, assessment and mitigation of risks in the process.

  • Responsibilities include liaison with the other control teams to provide adequate understanding and support to operations in managing operational risk for their area
