Job Responsibilities

As an OT Security Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to protect Halliburton s operational technology (OT) environments from cyber threats. You will implement security measures, lead incident response efforts, validate security controls, and ensure the resilience of our OT systems.

Key Duties:

  • Security Implementation: Deploy and manage OT security controls, technologies, and measures to safeguard critical systems and assets.

  • Incident Response Support: Collaborate with outsourced security operations teams to address and escalate incidents effectively.

  • Liaison with SOC: Work closely with the Security Operations Center (SOC) to engage in proactive threat hunting and reactive incident response.

  • Security Automation: Automate security processes, including patching, logging, and alerting, to enhance efficiency.

  • Vulnerability Management: Assess vulnerabilities and coordinate timely remediation.

  • Security Awareness: Promote security awareness among OT personnel and stakeholders through training and education initiatives.

  • Reporting: Provide regular reports on security status, including incidents, vulnerabilities, and system health.

  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of security configurations, incident reports, and response plans.

  • Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, such as network engineers and system administrators, to align security initiatives with organizational goals.

  • Security Tool Management: Optimize the use of security tools and technologies within the OT security program.

  • Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to enhance OT security and incident response capabilities, staying ahead of emerging threats and industry trends.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Hands-on experience in OT security engineering, incident response, or related fields.

  • Strong understanding of industrial control systems (ICS) and SCADA systems.

  • Proven expertise with OT and IT security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), vulnerability detection tools, network discovery solutions, log collection systems, and security information and event management (SIEM) platforms.

  • In-depth knowledge of OT security principles and best practices.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, GICSP, GCIH, GRID, Certified Incident Handler) are highly desirable.

  • Previous experience in the oil and gas or energy sectors is a plus.

  • Familiarity with industry-specific standards and regulations related to OT security.

  • Adaptability to evolving OT technologies and the dynamic security landscape.

  • Passion for continuous learning and staying current with industry developments.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor s Degree (Master s Degree preferred).

  • Minimum 10 years of IT experience, including at least 3 years in OT/IT security.
