We are looking for a software engineer to join our team to support and evolve the design, implementation, and operational support of the merchant platform.

You will:

• Collaborate with Product Management to create technical specifications from business requirements

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and optimize applications for the Groupon microservice ecosystem

• Design and implement light weight ETL pipelines to collect and converge data for the merchant reporting & notifications applications

• Build service artifacts, plan deployment, coordinate timeline with project management and teams

• Work with resilient distributed systems at scale

• Actively participate in code reviews and technical discussions that help improve code quality of the product and help the team to be more productive

• Improve service stability by identifying critical service specific metrics, setting meaningful alerting thresholds, and automating alerting responses

• Support and help technical teams that integrate into the Merchant platform

• Drive the discussion and decisions of technical topics related to the team

• Share and grow in a very smart, diverse and inclusive engineering team

• Be nimble and react quickly to changing business conditions

We are excited about you if you have:

• BS or MS in Computer Sciences or related fields with 5+ years in software development, including experience with server side Java

• Experience designing, building, and operating large scale backend applications in service-oriented architectures

• Solid knowledge with relational databases, distributed systems and microservices

• Experience with cloud environments (AWS)

• Experience with any of the following technologies: rxJava (or other reactive stream implementations), Docker, JMS, Kafka, Dropwizard, Spring

• Proficiency in code versioning tools, preferably Git

• Experience using existing CI and CD pipelines

• Good communication and collaboration skills

• Passion about quality, testing and code reviews

• Excellent teamwork skills

• Good time management skills

• Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence is a plus

• Self-motivated / starter attitude

• Willingness to work on a truly global/remote team spread across many time zones and countries
