Job Description

Animation Directors are responsible for the quality of the animation, for keeping it on brief and for delivering consistent performances by assigning, or casting, the appropriate animators.He/She also make sure the creative desires and production requirements are met.

Responsibilities

Works directly with the Head of Production, Post production teams to ensure all technology aspects of animation are ready to deliver the performance the Director requires

Interpret the brief from the Creative team, and transmit it to the animation team

Guide, supervise and review the work produced by the Animators

Responsible for keeping the animation in style throughout the production

Review shots, approve shots, assign revisions, troubleshoot shots

Create visually powerful shots that depict mood, motivation and tendencies of characters within the established story world.

Work with the storyboard/animatic/layout and create feature level, key-framed animation.

Responsible to the production department for delivering the required quota of animation, on time

Keep track of story and continuity issues within the shot sequence

Communicate regularly with the other departments like rigging, art, and production teams to minimize errors and inefficiencies in the production pipeline

Maintains or exceeds consistent level of productivity while meeting deadlines and producing high quality work

Attend any relevant meetings to promote effective communication throughout the production team

Keep up on current technology trends and tools (hardware and software) that best suit the production (and the company) in the development of a stronger creative technical environment

Work with Producer(s) and Director(s) to formulate bids and time lines for ambiguous sections of the movie involving creativity and technology

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

7-8 years of experience as supervisor or Animation Director

Demonstrated expertise in the following: animation, rigging, sketching and/or drawing skills

Strong workingknowledge of Adobe Flash, Animate CC

SKILLS:

Excellent creative and technical communication skills

Lead and motivate a team through changing and often pressured times

Set an optimistic tone on the show and promote communication and teamwork

Demonstrate excellent communication skills in giving constructive feedback to artists when discussing specific shots and sequences

Be able to keep calm in the often challenging, high-pressured and political environment of producing a film
