Shaft & Bearing Development Engineer - E-powertrain Job in Garrett - Advancing Motion

Key Job Areas of Responsibilities Develop specific bearing system components Dimension and optimize bearings for the electric motor support and for the gear train Apply and participate in the development of standard methodologies for bearing system dimensioning by simulation and testing Design and simulate hydraulic circuits to manage lubrication and cooling needs of motor, gearbox and bearing system, within packaging contraints Perform component and system level thermal/power loss analysis Collaborate with motor and gearbox development teams to define and optimize system oil flow requirements Support dimensioning of oil pump as per system needs Acts as bearing expert for the product line, including NVH aspects Support product development and application launches Education / Qualifications Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering Experience in bearing system dimensioning, oil management, hydraulic circuit design, thermal analysis Key Skills and Knowledge Expert in rotordynamics and integration of bearings in rotating machines Ability to perform 1D and CFD simulations for designing oil flow circuits, heat exchangers; thermal/powerloss analysis Highly skilled in simulation and understanding product and process design tradeoffs Knowledge of test rigs, instrumentation, data acquisition and analysis (LabView, Matlab,...)
