Job Summary

Data Services Engineer [ RDMS administration , Shell Scripting]

As a Data Services engineer you will interact frequently with customer support, specialists teams, developers and 3rd party providers, therefore it is important that you are clear and concise in your communication. Working closely with diverse teams you will need to develop a good all-round understanding of systems, services and networks as well as the telecoms industry. Diligence and attention to detail are also key skills along with an ability to multi-task and prioritize work appropriately.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Advanced troubleshooting in coordination with other teams and 3rd parties, query /schema optimisations, fine tuning of back-end databases
  • Perform advanced system monitoring and preventive maintenance
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation
  • Database / server ownership
  • Propose database and platform enhancements to avoid issues
  • Review database changes
  • Deploy new Virtual Machines according to specifications
  • Be the bridge between Development and other Operations teams

Skills Required

  • 3+ years of experience writing shell scripts and scripting languages
  • 3+ years working with a RDBMS at an administrative level
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL
  • Knowledge of Linux and/or Windows system administration
  • Knowledge of VMware
  • Knowledge of SQL Server and/or Oracle is considered a plus
  • Previous telecom knowledge is considered a plus
