Design Engineer (mechanical) Job in Forbes Marshall

Role Description:

The role is to do the conceptualization, design, development of Control Valves, Pressure Vessels, Positioners / Steam Traps instrumentation for industrial use. The Design Engineer is responsible for carrying out the duties of the Research & Development department, including design, research, prototyping, engineering documentation, estimation. This position requires strong innovative, creative, analytical thinking, problem solving skills and passion for keeping up to date with the latest industry trends and developments. Key responsibilities:

• The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a strong acumen and desire for developing - products.
• The candidate should be able to generate crisp and specific design specifications for electronics and mechanical design teams.
• Candidates should preferably have the ability to define and develop system and subsystem designs for an existing/ new Control Valves, Positioners / Steam Traps, ensuring that the system meets the performance criteria defined by the sales team.
• Using internal tools, candidates should be able to analyze the designs to make sure they meet the necessary requirements and specifications.
• Analyze the inputs after consulting with the internal stakeholders (OPCO Engineering & Sales team) to determine the scope of the project.
• Shall identify the required infra-structure for a given project & make it available (internal or external based on economically viability and useability)
• Shall own up the project activities and deliver the same as per the project plan
• Should adhere to the quality standards and quality control procedures.

Educational Qualification:

BE Mechanical

Work Experience:

3-5 years

Must-Have Skills:

• A minimum of 4-5 years industrial experience in design and development and has participated in the full product design cycle
• Proven expertise in Conceptualization, detail design, basic FEA simulations, design calculations, material selection, CAD modeling, Prototyping, Verification and Validation of a completely new product introduction.
• Create manufacturing drawings based on Customer requested Standards, GD&T, BOM & Documentation release
• Hands-on experience in the 3D CAD environment.
• FEA / CFD work experience will be an additional advantage.
• Design / Engineering calculations as per International Standards preferred.

Good to Have Skills:

• A reasonable understanding of the capabilities of these fields.
• Experience in Value Engineering, should costing, cost reduction would be an advantage
• Extensive knowledge of metal fabrication processes
• Understanding of current cutting tool technology
• Impeccable attention to detail
• Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively
